Sacred Heart Reception Newsletter Issue 1– Friday 7th September
What a fantastic first week at school we have had in Reception Class. Miss Wise, Miss Barrass, Miss Scott and Mrs Bowes have been so impressed with the children on their first few days at school. They have been eager to try some new activities, sharing resources, helping each other to find things and having a go at everything. Well done– they really have done very well! Over the next few weeks we are looking forward to getting to know the children and yourselves better but do feel free to chat with us after the children have been picked up if you have any questions or concerns. This newsletter is produced weekly on a Friday and is published online via Facebook and the class blog on our school website. Please ensure you read both the Early Years and main school newsletter weekly as they contain vital dates and information.
We will start PE sessions next week ( w/c 11th September). Please ensure your child has their PE kit in school ready for their first session. Both reception classes will be receiving a high quality PE session taught by Mr Evans, every Wednesday morning. In addition to this the children may do PE with their class teachers throughout the week– it is best that children leave their PE kits in school and take home to washed every half term, that way they never miss out.
You are welcome to bring a named water bottle to school for your child. This will be sent home every night to be cleaned and refilled. We have cups for water if you would prefer not to bring a water bottle and the children are able to get a drink of water at any time throughout the day.
As the children start their full days next week, we will meet them in the school yard in a morning. The teachers will be in the yard from 8.40am next week to ensure that there is a friendly face when they arrive. At home time, the children will be released from the ramp next to little hearts. If parents could adhere to school policy by standing on the yard and stepping forward to physically collect their child only when they see their child at the front of the line. Please bare with us as we get the children used to this process—it is to ensure their safety at all times, allowing teachers to be sure that children are with parents.
Please can you make sure the children have their names on all items of their uniform including PE kit and outdoor shoes. It is more or less impossible to find unnamed items of uniform if they are lost in school. Each child has a set of clothing name labels printed and ready at the school office if parents wish to purchase these on Parent Pay.
Once payment is made the labels will be sent home with your child.
So...what have Reception Class been doing this week?
