Seniors on the Move with Jesus! Clinging to our Guideline Verse: . . . . “And the Seniors went forth that day Joyful and with a glad heart.” (Chosen by the Seniors people a few years ago. Paraphrased from Esther 5:9 KJV.) Greetings Everybody! Well, it’s Spring and we have certainly burst forward with new vigor! At least we are praying for fresh focus and new leadership that will bring smiles to our faces and the Lord’s will in areas that we have yet to discover. Since Ron and I have stepped aside for other persons to take over, we have slept 10 hours some nights and wait to find our new roles. It’s not easy! But you folks have given us plenty of encouragement and caring to sustain us until Jesus shows us our next work for Him. We are still all working together! And Janis Fiebelkorn has provided us with Bible verses to keep this transition moving in God’s will. Some of them will appear throughout this Newsletter. HERE’S ONE OF HIS FRESH ADDITIONS: Now we have Men on the Move with Jesus! He has tapped seven men to begin work in Ron Paulson’s backyard workshop, searching for lumber and paint to create Christmas yard decorations. We have four designs to bring to life and place in Sheron Price’s hands to sell during the coming holidays. How fine to see our men’s work liven up front lawns in the Sumner area! If you’d like to roll up your sleeves and join in the fellowship and fun, you can call Barbara Dozier (253-569-4801). The men are thinking now about how to proceed and will gather at the Paulson home on Saturday, June 3rd at 10AM and every June Saturday after that. There will be a lunch for you at noon, and you’ll then decide how much longer to work together that day. This is an exuberant bunch! Within minutes at 11:30AM before our April Potluck, they had decided on days, times, supplies needed and more -----! Way to GO Guys! Transition Guideline #1: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.” (Proverbs 3:5-6)

OK. SO WHO’S IN CHARGE? The same people who’ve been at the wheel when we went on vacations: Ginny Gilbert, Alice Perteet, Janis Fiebelkorn and Harriett James. Each of them has brought a strong action-oriented faith, experience with a portion of our responsibilities, and a heart dedicated to our Seniors on the Move. The Contact Person for us now is Alice Perteet if anyone has questions, concerns or suggestions. These Mini-Board people will consider everything with prayer and group counsel, keeping in mind our Transition Bible Guidelines. And the Holy Spirit has assured us that a couple has been prepared to take over the main leadership. If you notice Him tapping you on the shoulder, please pray about it and then call Alice (253-891-2479) with your offer to lead. Transition Guideline #2: “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.” (Romans 8:28) ++++++++

And to keep a smile on our face: April showers bring May flowers. What do May flowers bring?

We’re Moving in New Directions TOGETHER! BUT some good things remain the same, like how we Register for Outings and other events. We can sign up at a monthly Potluck when Pat Boswell brings the Outing sheet around to each of us. We also can call Barbara Dozier (253-569-4801) to Register AND to cancel if we suddenly cannot make the Outing. And we’ll remember that for the next several months there will mostly be only ONE Outing per month. Our Holy Spirit-requested change in leadership was unanticipated so that we have a lot of foundation work to do to establish new routines with new people. Thank you all for your help and patience with this. Transition Guideline #3: “There are many plans in a man’s heart. Nevertheless The Lord’s counsel ----- that will stand.” (Proverbs 19:21)

Thursday, April 27th: Brinnon Rhododendron Gardens at Hoods Canal are reported to be exceptionally beautiful. We leave at 9AM in our church shuttles and Bernice Keadle’s car. We’ve voted to accept the owner’s offer of a catered sandwich lunch in the warm and enclosed Garden Room with a fine view at $10 per person. A 1 ¾ hour drive will get us there. Bring along your knitting or a nap pillow and your best conversation! A motorized vehicle is available for people who need a boost in their walking stamina. Thursday, May 11th: Our monthly Potluck with everybody bringing whatever food they like! We look forward to main dishes, hot vegetables, salads, fruit and desserts. Our first speaker of the season ---Jeanie McKay ----- will help us with our memories! She’ll show us how to keep our minds sharpened and our focus on point. We have reserved 45 minutes for her enjoyable presentation right after we eat at 12:30PM and have Connie Walker’s 7-Minute Bible Study as well as brief announcements. Remember to add to the excitement by donating one quality item for our new FREE table! You can take one item too! Our July and August Potlucks will be BBQ’s at private homes. Be ready to sign up at our June Potluck to bring hot dogs, buns, burger patties, cheese slices, lettuce/tomato slices/onion slices, a mayo/ketchup/mustard pack and chopped onions. Thursday, May 18th: We leave the church lobby at 10AM in our shuttles for The Old Goat Farm in Graham. It’s been several years since we visited it, and the owners have received numerous awards for their gardens since then. They will give us a tour and then make us welcome at their patio tables where we’ll enjoy a restful brown bag lunch. We need to bring our own drinks in those bags and a bite-sized food to share. This place is full of surprises. Thursday, May 25th: Leaving the church lobby at 9:30AM, this is a “Your Choice” Outing: 1. Choose to go through the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation’s free self-guided tour that is said to inspire a life of serving or 2. Walk across the street to marvel at the genius of Dale Chihuly in his breath-taking Garden of Glass for $19 Senior rate and get some great photos or 3. Walk across the street to the Space Needle and its huge gift shop. We’ll gather for lunch in the Food Court. Look at This! Our Sewing Bee Women have just delivered some beautiful completed items: 20 receiving blankets for Care Net, 20 receiving blankets for Step by Step (both groups assist pregnant women in need); 69 receiving blankets as well as 117 baby bibs and 120 burp cloths for Good Samaritan’s Celebrate Seniority for more mom’s who need baby supplies. And in addition, 25 adult bibs were sold to the owner of a local Adult Care home. Way to GO LADIES! Way to GO, JESUS! There it is for this month!
