Sewing with Knits 201 Supply List In this class we will be constructing a basic T-shirt. Yes, you can make a great shirt even if you do not have a serger! This is not a beginning sewing class - basic sewing knowledge and skills are required. This is not a fitting class. *Sew Knits with Confidence by Nancy Zieman *T-shirt pattern for the size you wish to make. Some suggested patterns: o Kwik Sew 3766 (ladies sizes) o Kwik Sew 3863 (toddler sizes) or 4046 (child sizes) o Kwik Sew 3878 (mens sizes) *Fabric as required in pattern for the size you wish to make. Please purchase a moderately stable knit such as double knit, ponte, French terry, medium weight jersey. Please avoid stripes, rayon knits and sweatering. Prewash your fabric the way you plan to wash it when you have made it into a garment. Make sure you check for special washing instructions on the end of the bolt. (ie. hand wash, wash cold, etc.) *Sewing machine in good working order. Please bring your manual!! *Thread to match or coordinate with your fabric. All purpose, 100% polyester is a good choice. *Ballpoint, universal or stretch needles in a size appropriate for your fabric (if you’re not sure, you may ask an associate for help or wait till class night) *Good quality, sharp sewing shears *Ballpoint pins (these do not damage or put holes in your knit fabric) *Basic Sewing Supplies
