Building: We are at a point where the building updates will no longer be given: however there are a few things that still need to be done. We need more electrical outlets and circuits the electrician has been contacted and will be out within the next two weeks. We are having some plumbing issues, the plumber has been notified and will be taking care of the issues.
Concession Stand Committee: The concession stand has started the normal operation phase and it has been a success. Volunteers are signing up and so far we haven’t has an issue with coverage. We could use more volunteers especially on the grill. The concession stand committee has worked extremely hard to secure pricing that is both profitable to the park and affordable to the families that call the park home. The committee has asked for any suggestions or ideas that can improve our concession stand.
Park Taxes and Tax Status: Situation: At the same time the park had the fire we lost our 501c4 tax status. This tax status allowed us to be tax exempt meaning the money that was brought into the park was not taxable. By losing out status with the IRS we ended up having to file returns for a period of three years and those returns had to be filed as a corporation. During the fire there were many things destroyed and some that included financial records for the park. This meant that the records had to be rebuilt and rebuilt under the watchful eye of the IRS. Cost: The cost of fixing the back taxes prior to this year was approximately $14,000.00 and that number includes both Federal and State returns. Plan: At this time the park has paid around $7,000.00 of these back taxes and the board has voted to make another payment of around $3,500.00. This will leave us with right around $3,500.00 left to pay. This payment will be made at a later time once the operating account has been built back up. If you have any questions about the parks taxes please find a board member and we will be glad to help answer you questions.
Sports Update: Basketball: No report Baseball: Chris Snodgrass reported Baseball is going Great!! Softball: Shannon VanHoy reported Softball games have started and is going well. Football: No report Soccer: No report
Volleyball: Mandy Grindstaff reported Flyers will be sent out soon to schools.
Elections: We would like to thank the nomination committee for taking the time to find people willing to be on the board. For those that didn’t know who they are we would like to acknowledge them. John Paul Genero, Frank Dimura, Deanna Cosby and Alicia Kennedy. They spent a lot of time actively searching for people to fill positions. Here are the new 2014-2015 SFO board members: Ray Kennedy – Vice President Jeremy Reynolds- Athletic Director Jessie Cockman- Communications Director We had a few nominations for president. Each was interested in getting involved but wanted to take a few years to help in other areas to feel more confident to serve as president and so the nominations were put on hold. So the board suggested extending the nomination deadline to May 30th. Frank Dimura motioned to move to amend the constitution by striking "Section 5.4" No President of this Club who has served a full term as President shall be eligible to serve the succeeding year as President" and add to Section 5.4 "The President of this Club may serve 2 consecutive years as President until 2015." This motion will be voted on at our next Community Meeting May 14th.
We would like to say Thank You to The Landing Restaurant for allowing us to hold our April Community Meeting at the restaurant!! Meeting called to an end at 8:13. Kayla Parker motioned; Sonya McAlister 2nd.
