Sherrills Ford Optimist Community Meeting February 24, 2014 Meeting Held at Sherrills Ford Fire Department/Slanting Bridge Rd Meeting called to order at 7:05 pm and ended at 8:18 pm Jamie Cockman motioned for January Community meeting minutes approved: Cat Early 2nd the motion.

Building We are going to have full day of activities related to dedicating our new building/concession stand. We are planning on holding a softball tournament with local churches. The Cockman family will do a concert after the ceremony and the Cockman Brothers will do a bluegrass jam during the Barbeque Dinner. We will also have games for the kids. Sports Update: Basketball: Jessie Cockman reported Basketball had a great season! Baseball: Chris Snodgrass reported Baseball registration will be open until March 1st. $70.00 Baseball and Softball and $50.00 t-ball. We will be playing Balls Creek. Baseball evaluations will be held on March 1st and Softball evaluations will be on March 3rd.
Concession Stand Committee:
Our concession stand is now open. We would like to have a committee to take the task of organizing, stocking and running the concession stand. If you are interested in being a part of this committee please let a board member know or talk to Frank Dimura.
Elections: It will soon be time to start nominating officers to be part of next year’s board. If you know anyone who may be interested in running for a position on the board please express to them the need to be involved now. While being a member of the board is time commitment it is a good experience.
