Opening Remarks (Steve Fabian) • Steve Fabian welcomed everyone to the meeting. Babe Ruth (Bill Queen) (Absent) • Bill Queen sent along a reminder that we need to order two signs for Babe Ruth, one for the Braves for the Town Championship and one for the 13- year old All-Stars who won the District tournament. • Bill Queen has asked Mary Etter to send out an email blast looking for volunteers to assist with the completion of the Babe Ruth concession stand. The only skilled labor required is that we need someone who knows how to hang vinyl siding. Majors (Al Tomasco) • It appears that we will breakeven on the winter clinic. We have 37 7-9 year olds and 24 10-12 year olds participating. There will be no clinic on the weekend of March 14th and 15th . The last session will be held on March 22nd. • Steve Fabian will approach Park & Rec to confirm that we have first rights to the practice fields at Flanders, Hatton Thalberg, and Depaolo for the 2009 season.

Al Tomasco will be securing quotes for All-Star shirts for Babe Ruth and for replacement shirts for those that were stolen in January. We will be establishing a pool of players again that can be used as replacements if a team is short on players due to vacations, illness, etc. Al Tomasco recommended that we increase the mercy rule to 15 runs instead of 12 for 2009. The decision was made to have Al Tomasco meet with the Majors Managers to finalize a position on this issue. Al Tomasco will release the Majors schedule shortly after rosters have been finalized. All new Majors players will be notified of their selection by 8:00 P.M. on March 15th . Al will meet with Steve Viviano and Carlos Gil to help assemble Minors rosters once the Minor League tryouts have been completed.
Minors (Carlos Gil) • Carlos Gil will be meeting with the Minors Managers shortly to discuss the Minors tryouts. We have filled all 10 Manager positions for the upcoming season. • Carlos Gil is on point to run the Pitch, Hit, and Run competition at this year’s Opening Day event. • Steve Fabian informed all attendees that the 5-run rule in the last inning has been eliminated by the District for 2009. T-Ball & Farm (John Susi) • John Susi will hold clinics with Managers at all levels in late March (dates and locations to be determined). • John Susi has 9 T-Ball and 9 Farm Managers for the season. We will be looking for one more Manager for each division prior to the start of the season. Booster Club (Mary Etter) • The Booster Club held their second meeting on March 3rd. • Mary reported that the planning for Opening Day is well underway. We will be holding a bottle and can drive that day with all proceeds going to SNB. • There is still one open Booster Club time slot that needs to be filled to support tryouts on March 14th and 15th . • Mary is looking into the cost of baseball pendant key chains to hand out to players on Opening Day. • The league dance fundraiser will be held May 9th at the Sons of Italy. There will be no charge for use of the hall. Butch Gray has volunteered his DJ services. • The league picture vendor is slightly cheaper this year and $2 from every package will come back to support SNB. Safety Officer (Jeff Van Kirk) • Jeff Van Kirk will have the safety plan completed by the end of the weekend of March 7th and 8th . Carlos Gil will support Jeff on this effort. The plan needs to be submitted to Maryellen Holden by April 1st . • Jeff Van Kirk will look into the status of the first aid kits and replenish them as necessary prior to the next meeting.
Finance Report (Tom Carroll) • This month’s report includes a $1,500 charge, which is the first of two payments to Baseball City for the Winter Clinic. • Registration and fundraiser fees are not reflected in this month’s finance report. They will not be included until they are fully reconciled. • No other major updates. Player Agent (Steve Viviano) • Registrations to date are consistent with past years. We have approximately 300 players registered to date. • The final registration event will be the evening of March 12th from 6:00 to 9:00 P.M. • Steve Viviano and Steve Fabian met with Bill Voelker from Southington South to clarify the league boundaries. • Steve Viviano has received confirmation from Depaolo that we have the cafeteria reserved for our March 12th registration event and for the Majors and Minors tryouts on March 14th and 15th . Steve will clarify the amount of any charges we may incur. • We have received 3 requests to date to move 6- year olds up to Farm for 2009. Secretary (John Rogalski) • We have received confirmation that Lloyd’s will be reimbursing the full value of our insurance claim less the deductible. John Rogalski has to submit a signed, notarized proof of loss statement in order for Lloyd’s to process the claim. Mary Etter notarized the paperwork at the end of the meeting. • John Rogalski has secured the Aqua Turf for our year end banquet/meeting. The date for this event will be Tuesday, September 1st . The cost per person has increased $0.50 this year. • Applications for our 2009 Bator Scholarship Awards have begun to arrive. The Board will need to select winners at the April meeting. New Business • George Casner, the head of the Challengers Program, was in attendance. We have 10 Challengers players signed up to date. George is expecting between 18 and 20 players this year. • George is working with the Knights of Columbus to get the Challengers players sweatshirts for the season. The Knights will be covering the cost of this item. • Steve Fabian has not received any updates from the Southington Police Department regarding the break- in incident at the Majors concession stand. • In 2010, Little League is redesigning T-Ball to include 4-year olds. They will only be able to play on teams with 4 and 5-year olds.
