DU Pioneer ID Cards: No ID, No Play, No Exceptions!!! All participants must present a valid DU Pioneer Card to the appropriate Intramural Sports staff member on site in order to play. Drug and Alcohol Policy: Under no circumstances are drugs or alcohol allowed at an intramural event. Any participant that is caught with drugs or alcohol or under the influence of drugs or alcohol during an intramural event will be immediately ejected from the game, asked to leave the facility, and will be suspended indefinitely from all intramural sports until further notice. Intramural staff will call higher authorities if necessary. Participants that are ejected for drugs and alcohol may warrant further action by the University of Denver. Participants are the responsibility of the team captain and must abide by the Drug and Alcohol Policy, as well. Please refer to the complete Drug and Alcohol Policy located in our Guide to Participation. Varsity Athlete Eligibility: A person who has won his/her varsity letter or award (i.e. trophy, plaque, jewelry, certificate, jacket, etc...) in a sport or its related sport at the University of Denver, a four-year college or university, or two-year junior college, will not be eligible to compete in that sport or its related counterpart for a period of one academic year after the completion of their intercollegiate team membership. Club Sports Athlete Eligibility: A person who is listed on a club sports roster will be eligible to compete in that sport or its related counterpart, HOWEVER teams are limited to 2 club players per team (exception: Ice Hockey = 4, any 3v3 sport = 1) and these players must play in the highest/most competitive division offered. All coaches are considered members of their team, and therefore, the rule above applies to coaches as well. Weather and Game Cancellations: In case of cancellations due to inclement weather/unplayable field conditions, the Intramural Sports staff will make an announcement via IMLeagues concerning the playing of the games in question. Please do NOT call/email the office. If a game reaches half-time or is at least 50% completed when postponed, the result will be final. If a game failed to reach half-time or is less than 50% complete or the game is tied, then the rescheduled game (if rescheduled) will resume at its point of interruption.
SPORT SPECIFIC RULES ELIGIBILITY
All participants must meet the eligibility standards as outlined in the Guide to Participation Handbook. Proper identification must be presented to the intramural staff prior to participation at the event site.
OBJECTIVE
The objective of this event is to gain the highest score or fastest time in each event.
EQUIPMENT
Participants may use their own soccer ball or use one provided by the Intramural Sports staff.
EVENTS
The following events will have both a men’s and women’s division: o Speed Dribbling Challenge o Juggling Competition
RULES – SPEED DRIBBLING The speed dribbling challenge will be an obstacle course of cones, flags, and other objects of which your agility, speed, control, and quickness while dribbling a soccer ball will be tested as you compete against the clock. Additional time will be added to your final time for failed objectives (missed flags). Any opportunities for a deduction in time will be noted to each participant before attempting the event. Each participant is given 2 attempts. Tiebreaker will go to the person with the fewest deductions. If still tied, the individual who earned the most time deductions will be the winner. If still tied, both will be champions. The male and female with the fastest times will be awarded an Intramural Sports championship t-shirt.
RULES – JUGGLING The juggling competition will give each participant 60 seconds to string together as many touches as possible without the ball dropping. A body part (side-specific) may not be used more than 2 consecutive times. Example: If the left foot is used two times in a row, the left foot can’t be the next touch (can be the right foot for the next touch). Each participant is given 2 attempts. If a player fails before 60 seconds, he/she can start again and try to string together a longer combination until 60 seconds is up. We will take the longest string within the 60 seconds. There is no tiebreaker, so there can be multiple champions. The male and female with the highest score will be awarded an Intramural Sports championship t-shirt.
**If a participant wins both events, he/she will be awarded 1 Intramural Champ Shirt.
