PRINCIPAL ST. PATRICK – ST. VINCENT HIGH SCHOOL Vallejo, California THE SCHOOL: St. Patrick-St. Vincent Catholic High School (SPSV), a Diocesan, co-educational, College Preparatory High School, located in Vallejo, CA has an opening for Principal beginning the 2015-2016 academic year. SPSV is the only Catholic high school in Solano County, and has a proud history of serving families in the Diocese of Sacramento, and surrounding areas, since 1870. SPSV offers a comprehensive Catholic high school experience for over 450 students, with academic programs that challenge the intellect and maximize the potential of each student to acquire knowledge, concepts, and skills necessary to become thinking, productive, responsible citizens. SPSV also offers active co-curricular participation in a variety of athletic programs, a robust choir and theatre program, as well as an active campus ministry and social justice program. SPSV is fully accredited by the Western Catholic Education Association (WCEA) and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). THE MISSION: St. Patrick-St. Vincent High School, a Catholic college preparatory high school of the Diocese of Sacramento, challenges its diverse student population to seek truth as creative, complex thinkers and to be responsible citizens and compassionate individuals who share their gifts with others. THE OPPORTUNITY During the 2014-2015 school year SPSV began the transition to a President-Principal model of administration. As a member of the executive team, the Principal will be responsible for the daily academic life of the school. In partnership with the President, the

Principal will foster an environment focused on our Catholic Identity, that brings to life our school community through academics, athletics, arts, community service and student leadership opportunities. The Principal will foster relationships with all community members in pursuit of fulfilling the SPSV mission. Through collaboration, the Principal will work with faculty members to establish a professional learning environment focused on teacher growth ensuring a high quality Catholic education for all students. The Principal will understand high school students, and work with them to take ownership of their own learning. The Principal will promote a healthy campus community of engaged students, faculty members and parents.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Faith Community Affairs: 1. Interprets and implements the spiritual direction of the school in a manner consistent with a Roman Catholic education. 2. Ensures the development of faith community through the integration of faith with the learning process, the religion program, campus ministry activities, student retreats, faculty/staff retreats and service programs. Academic Affairs/Instructional Leadership: 1. Is responsible for the development and implementation of policies and procedures in connection with all facets of the school program. 2. Assumes overall responsibility and accountability for the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of the college preparatory curriculum, with the assistance of the Assistant Principal and the Department Chairs. 3. Confers regularly with the President and the school community in order to maintain communication and unified policies and procedures for the operation of the school. 4. Ensures integration of technology into the instructional program. 5. Coordinates the overall Western Association of Schools and Colleges/Western Catholic Education Association accreditation process in conjunction with designated personnel, serving as administrative liaison with the school site coordinator during the self-study phase and facilitating the development of long range planning based upon visiting team recommendations, primarily in the areas of curriculum and instruction. Student Affairs: 1. Is present and visible to the students in order to provide them guidance and support.

2. Ensures the design and implementation of co-curricular activities, counseling and guidance services. 3. Ensures the proper care, safety, and supervision of students while under school custody. 4. Coordinates, with the Dean of Students, the publication of the student handbook. 5. Makes final decisions regarding suspensions and expulsions upon the advice of the Dean of Students and other administrators. 6. Ensures that accurate records, attendance, and transcripts are maintained. Staff & Faculty Individual Members: The Principal: 1. Evaluates the Assistant Principal and Dean with the approval of the President. 2. Coordinates interviewing prospective employees and makes appropriate recommendations to the President. 3. Oversees, with the assistance of the Department Chairs and Assistant Principal, the instructional supervision and/or evaluation of teachers. 4. Works with Department Chairs and the Assistant Principal for assigning class loads and committee work. 5. Provides appropriate professional development programs, identifies staff training needs, and recommends programs and activities. 6. Maintains, in cooperation with the Business Manager and the Human Resources Coordinator, appropriate records of all personnel and insures compliance with required employment policies of the state, Diocese and school. Departments: The Principal: 1. With the Assistant Principal appoints Department Chairs. 2. Is responsible for regular faculty meetings. 3. Works with the department directors under the Principal's jurisdiction on their needs, evaluations of personnel, and recommendations for hiring and dismissal. Other Responsibilities: 1. Establishes programs to inform parents and other interested parties about school programs and students' progress. 2. Works with the President and Business Manager to develop the school budget. 3. Prepares and gives appropriate reports to the School Board. 4. Is a liaison with various educational and professional organizations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS The Principal must be an active, practicing Catholic who understands, embraces, and is able to articulate the mission and vision of a faith based college preparatory education. The Principal will be a dynamic and energetic leader who facilitates learning, growth, and collaboration both inside and outside the classroom. The Principal will also have a passion for creating a lively, positive professional, accessible learning community. An ideal candidate for the position of Principal of St. Vincent-St. Patrick holds a minimum of a master’s degree in an education-related discipline has at least five years’ experience in the classroom at the high school level and has had administrative experience. An ideal candidate should also have evidence of leadership in team building, curriculum development, and professional development.
