The Lightning Bolt Date: 02/20/2017 General: LC Lightning teams are off and running on their summer tournaments. Teams have competed hard in every tournament and are learning what it takes to play tournament ball. Some highlights so far this summer include: -

10U team Runner-up finishes at both the USSSA Spring Shootout in Troy and the USSSA Wins for Warriors in Whitehall. 11U team Champions of the Silver Division in the Reed for Autism tournament in Athens 12U Champions of the NKY Bandits Royal Rumble in Cincinnati 16U team with a runner up finish at the Diamond Chix Classic in WVA.

As you can see, our teams are having great success so far this summer with more great things to come. Congratulations girls on your accomplishments so far and keep up the good work. Any communication that is added to the website will automatically be sent to your email or phone. Team App: Is still being used, so if you would like access all you have to download the app, search for LC Lightning and then request access.

The Lightning Bolt 14U – Summer Shootout (Marion) Bailey Gatten – Bailey started of the summer season with a bang. She batted .571 for the tournament with 3 doubles and 8 RBI, and an on-base percentage of .625. Bailey will be a freshman at Lakewood High School in the fall. 14U – Reed for Autism (Athens) Sydney Zuelzke – Syd was the spark plug for the team in the leadoff spot. She batted .600 for the tournament with an on-base percentage of .750. Looking forward to more good things from Syd in the lead-off spot moving forward. Jocelyn Leavitt – Although Jocelyn is still battling an injury, she was able to collect her first hits of the season in Athens, batting .500 for the tournament. She continues to be a positive teammate on the bench, and we hope to get her back on the mound soon. 14U – Warcat Invitational (Westerville) Kaitlyn Vaubel – Kaitlyn had an excellent tournament in Westerville, she pitched 3 very good games earning the win against the Tigers and Upper Arlington. She also had a great tournament at the plate hitting 2 HRs and batting .563 for the tournament. Kaitlyn will be a Sophomore at Lakewood High School in the fall. Congratulations Kaitlyn!!! Sydney Tinney – Sydney had a great tournament at the plate. Sydney hit her first HR of the summer in a win against Upper Arlington, had 9 RBI for the tournament and scored 6 Runs. Sydney will be a sophomore at Westfall High School in the fall. Congratulations Sydney!!! Madi Boals – Madi had her best tournament at the plate batting a whopping .750, scored 8 runs and had 4 RBI. Madi will be a Freshman at Watkins Memorial High School in the fall. Congratulations Madi!!!!! 16U – Diamond Chix Classic (WV) Ally Fisher - Ally batted .429 (3/7), with three singles. Ally also had an OBP of .429. She scored four runs and knocked in 2 during this warmup tournament in WV. Ally was able to make it through this tournament without any errors, posting a 1.000 fielding percentage. Defensively, Fisher plays outfield and first base. Ally works hard at keeping our team pumped up and being a vocal leader. She has worked hard on her swing and on playing defense. This is Fisher's second fourth season playing with LC Lightning. Ally plays in the spring for Granville HS, where she will be a junior this fall.

Ashlynn Montgomery - Ashlynn batted .400 (2/5), with two singles in this WV tournament. Ash also had three walks to go with her two hits to give her a .625 OBP. In addition to these numbers, she scored 3 runs and had 2 rbi. Ashlynn also had a 1.000 fielding percentage during this tourney. She typically plays OF for our team but played some SS during this tournament as well. Ash is a multi-sport athlete at Newark HS where she will be a sophomore this Fall. This is Ashlynn's first season playing with LC Lightning.

16U – Capitol City Showdown (Berliner/Columbus, OH) Jade Armstrong - Jade batted .333 (6/18), with four singles and two doubles. Jade had two base on balls to go along with her hits to give her a .400 OBP and .444 slugging percentage. She scored one run (although since she is our catcher we typically let her rest instead of running) and knocked two runs in. She only had 1 error behind the dish giving her a .947 fielding percentage. Jade is a quiet young lady but has been a

The Lightning Bolt fantastic addition to our team leading us from the catching position. This is her first year playing for LC Lightning. Jade will be a sophomore at Indian Valley HS this fall.

16U – Capitol City Showdown (Berliner/Columbus, OH) Emily Irwin - Emily batted .462 (6/13) with 6 singles. Emily is working on hitting from the left side this summer and is getting the timing and footwork down with each tourney. In this Berliner showcase, she had a .533 OBP, scored 8 times and had two stolen bases. Emily has a nose for the ball and is able to make some spectacular plays at SS. She also plays CF for our team. Emily is another multi-port athlete that earned three Varsity letters this spring as a freshmen. She attends Watkins Memorial HS and will be a sophomore this fall.

Nyoka Clarke (Nike) - Nike had a couple of hits, 4 walks, 2 sacrifices, scored three times and knocked in a run during this Berliner showcase. Most importantly was providing some good innings in the circle for us. She struck out 12 batters in 24 innings and picked up a win during this tournament. Nike mixes in a little bit at second base when she doesn't pitch but mostly sees time sharing the circle with Carissa. This is her first year with LC Lightning and will be a junior this fall at Dover HS.

16U – Jason Reed Autism Awareness (Athens, OH) Audrey Smith - Audrey batted .444 (4/9) with four singles in the Jason Reed tournament. Audrey also added 4 walks, scored twice and had 2 rbi and posted a .615 OBP. She had a 1.000 fielding percentage from her OF position in this tournament. Audrey is very quick, hitting from the left side and bats leadoff for our team. Audrey is a multi-sport athlete at Bishop Hartley HS, where she will be a junior in the fall. This is her second year with LC Lighting.

Carissa Badolato - Carissa batted .444 (4/9) with four singles. She also walked once, scored once and had 3 rbi. Carissa had a .500 OBP. In the circle, she won a game and had 3 K's during the Jason Reed. When she is not pitching, Carissa plays middle infield for us. This was her first full tournament with us as she had the great experience of being a part of her HS team winning a Division 2 state championship. Carissa is playing with Lighting for the first time and will be a sophomore in the fall at Lakewood.

16U – ASA States (Findlay, OH) Kaitlyn Brown - Kaitlyn batted .417 (5/12) with three singles and two doubles. KB also had an OBP of .417 and a .583 slugging percentage to go along with 2 runs scored and 2 rbi. Kaitlyn had no errors at first base during this tournament. She plays first and pitches for our team. KB is another one of our multi-sport athletes as she participates in volleyball. This is Kaitlyn's third year with LC Lightning and she will be a junior this fall at Granville HS.

Makenzie Westbrook - Makenzie batted .429 (3/7) with three singles. Mak also added a walk and a sacrifice to give her a .500 OBP. She also chipped in with a run scored and 3 rbi. Mak plays multiple positions for our team including SS/2B/OF and pitches some. Makenzie has played three seasons with Lightning. Mak runs cross country and track and is our lone senior this year. She will begin her final year of school this fall at Watkins Memorial HS.
