SUBJECT:

Lake Level Report fo r the Month of August 2016

Dryer weather conditions reduced the Swan Lake water level faster than anticipated. This caused a slight reversal, leaning harder on KPU generation at the beginning of the month, so Swan Lake level would recover. By months end, dry conditions limited KPU 's effot1. This effort was to place construction work at the proper elevation on the dam spillway. T he average elevation of Upper Silvis Lake is 32.6 feet below spill, and Silvis Powerhouse produced I ,41 2,592 kWH of net energy this last month. This compares to 1,099,000 kWH in August of last year. T he average e levation of Lower Silvis Lake is 7.5 feet below spill, and Beaver Falls Powerhouse produced 3,603,325 kWH of net energy this last month. T his compares to 3,879,263 kWH in August oflast year. Due to its size, elevation and location, Whitman Lake has a relatively fast drafting/filling cycle time. As such, average monthly elevation fo r Whitman Lake is less meaningful as a tracking metric. However, monthly generation remains a good metric to track for this project. Whitman Powerhouse produced 285,426 kWH of net energy this last month compared to 853,1 16 kWH in August oflast year. The average elevation of Swan Lake is 16.9 feet below spill. SEAPA purchased power was 6,977,056 kWH of net energy this last month. This compares to 6,088,528 kWH of purchased power received in August of last year. T he average elevation of Ketchikan Lake is I0.4 feet below spill and the Ketchi kan Powerhouse produced 94 1,437 kWH of net energy. This compares to 1,797,413 kWH of net energy in August of last year. Net diesel generation during this last month was -11 0,6 19 kWH. This compares to -67,470 kWH in August of last year. (Negative number reflects use for station power, not billable). System peak was 23,800 kW. Ketchi kan Public Utilities owned generation facilities produced 6,132,161 kWH of net energy this last month. This was 47% oflast month's required energy. T otal System Net Generation last month, includi ng purchased power, was 13, I 09,217. This compares to 13,649,85 1 kWH in August of last year, and represents a decrease of -540,634 kWH. AD:kjh
