A Word from the Principal Dear St. John Students, Families, and Staff,

Feb. 8th – Monte Carlo Night Feb. 11th – School Council – 6:30pm Feb. 12th – Open House – 9:00am Feb. 14th – Free Dress –

The pride our community has in St. John School was evident last week throughout our celebration of Catholic Schools Week. What an incredible outpour of support from our students, families, and parishioners. I enjoyed having the opportunity to speak with so many of you last Sunday at the Open House. Please invite friends and families who may be interested in enrolling a student at St. John to our upcoming Open House on 2/12 at 9:00 am. Let’s invite others to see the wonderful things that are taking place at St. John School each day. On Wednesday afternoon, while our students enjoyed the afternoon with their families or special persons, the faculty participated in a presentation on the Common Core State Standards. We continue to learn as much as we can about the Common Core Standards in preparation for this transition. We are confident this will be a seamless transition as so much of what the standards entail we are implementing at St. John already.

SJS Tuition Assistance Deadline for 2014-15 - The deadline to complete the application process is March 15, 2014. (This deadline date is determined by the Santa Rosa Diocese, not St. John School.) For families new to tuition assistance, St. John School awards tuition assistance which includes Aquinas Scholarship money awarded by Santa Rosa Diocese. Tuition Assistance and the Aquinas Scholarship will only be considered if your need is verified by FACTS, a needs assessment company. There is a $30 charge for filing a FACTS application. Go to www.factstuitionaid.com and simply follow the directions for St. John School Healdsburg. Filling out a FACTS application will require a parent to have their tax documentation (i.e., IRS Form 1040 and W-2) for the 2013 calendar year. Families will not be eligible for assistance if they do not meet the March 15th deadline. Please make sure you complete the entire application process online. We cannot guarantee that families will receive any tuition assistance if they miss the deadline. Eligibility for an Aquinas Scholarship from the Diocese in 2014-15 will require the following:  The family must be practicing Catholics  The pastor and principal must recommend the family  The family's need must be verified by FACTS  The family must submit its FACTS application on-line, no later than March 15 *The Aquinas Scholarship makes up approximately 10% of total scholarship monies awarded. If you have questions about the Tuition Assistance process, please contact Ingrid Clark our Bookkeeper.
