~Today’s Scripture Reading~ 1 Corinthians 14:15-16 NKJV What is the conclusion then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will also pray with the understanding. I will sing with the spirit, and I will also sing with the understanding. Otherwise, if you bless with the spirit, how will he who occupies the place of the uninformed say "Amen" at your giving of thanks, since he does not understand what you say?
~WELCOME VISITORS~ We are striving to be Christ’s church here in Pace, seeking to glorify God in our community and around the world. We are glad you decided to join us today while we worship the Lord together! We believe you will find our worship according to the New Testament. Please take time to fill out a visitor’s card located in back of pew.
Place in collection plate as it passes.
WHY DO WE SAY “AMEN” AT THE END OF OUR PRAYERS? Amen. That one word is a statement of agreement. Amen means “so be it.” It gives affirmation to the point or decision under consideration. It gives support to what is said or what is undertaken. I want to give an “amen” to the steering team. These men that you selected are doing a wonderful job directing the work at Pace. Each asked for your help and input in their ministries during the business meeting last Sunday. They spend considerable time fulfilling their duties. They need your prayers and support which you freely give.
I want to give an “amen” to the building proposal. The original concept for the new facility was good. It became even better with the input from the congregation. Most of the modifications suggested by the membership have been incorporated into the revised plan. I’m excited about the ways the classroom and fellowship areas will be used. However, we must keep the new building in perspective. It is only a tool, but it is needed tool we can use in God’s work. I want to give an “amen” to the men who work with the pantry. There were over thirty people served in slightly over an hour this week. To say the least, a lot of groceries were sent out. We are extremely low (actually, completely out) of peanut butter and have only 2 bags of dried beans left. There is a very limited amount of canned meats and canned fruit. It’s not just the fellows that work at the pantry who should be thanked. All of you who bring in food should be thanked as well. I want to give an “amen” to the men and women who do the service items around here that may go unnoticed. There are several tasks that happen on a regular basis that get little attention but are essential. Someone takes attendance every week and sends out an attendance report. Multiple persons rotate the cleaning of the building. People do the set-up and clean-up whenever we have a fellowship meal. Several people are sending out cards. These and other efforts are greatly appreciated.
I want to give an “amen” to a guest speaker that will be with us soon. Phillip Slate will be here on April 30th to help us develop a plan for the future. I love Phillip dearly. He is a friend and a mentor to me. Phillip is very personable and friendly. He is a great preacher and teacher who connects well with his audience. He is a man who has dedicated himself to bringing others to Christ and to strengthening God’s church. What you may not know is that Phillip is one of the most knowledgeable and brilliant people I know. He has an earned doctor’s degree in missions, served as an overseas missionary for years, and served as teacher/dean at Harding School of Theology. He travels extensively consulting with churches and mission teams. He is a published author and is currently teaching a class on the history of missions at the Baxter Institute in Honduras. He has taught in Korea and has spoken at several church/Christian college events since the beginning of 2017. He truly is an expert in helping congregations, and I’m thankful he is coming back to Pace to help us develop plans for the future. More than an “amen” from me is needed regarding these people and ministries. I hope they have an “amen” from you as well. God is truly working at Pace! Amen! In the love of the Lord, David
