~Today’s Scripture Reading~

Philippians 1:3-6 (NKJV)

I thank my God upon every remembrance of you, always in every prayer of mine making request for you all with joy, for your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ;

~WELCOME VISITORS~

A DAY OF APPRECIATION So many wonderful things have been happening at Pace that it’s hard to process it all. God has blessed us with tremendous opportunities for growth. Today, we want to take a few moments and show our appreciation to God for making the Pace congregation such a great place to be. We have eight young people in the last year or so who have decided to put Christ on in baptism. Four young ladies have made this commitment. They are Brooklyn Armand, Kaelyn Peeler, Charlotte Taylor, and Izzie Shows. Along with them, four of our young men have done the same. These include Brandon Barnes, Jacob Barrett, Ethan Peeler, and Preston Taylor. There have been other of our members who have responded in recent months. Some have been younger and some older. Some who had questioned their initial baptism have been re-baptized. Some have come forward asking for the faith to live closer to their Lord. We have a group of young people here whose energy and enthusiasm encourage the rest of us. Our youth have a strong desire to serve God. Pray for our search for a full-time youth minister to help them in their spiritual journey. Pray for our youth that they will continue to be the kind of example that Paul encouraged Timothy to be. Pray not just for our junior and senior high, but lift up our elementary and preschool as well. Finally, pray for our young adult/college age group and for those working with them. It’s a beautiful moment when different age groups show honor to each other. Today is such a day. Our youth group is hosting a soup and salad lunch this morning for our Pacesetters. For those who don’t know what a “Pacesetter” is, anyone in the congregation that is 55 or above falls into this category. This group may have gotten a bit older and possibly a tad slower, but that doesn’t mean they are inactive. These are the folks who have the wisdom and experience to lead and to instruct those who are younger. We have people in this group in their 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, and beyond. The love shown by our teens to this group by providing a meal for them is appreciated greatly by all our Pacesetters. Because there is so much love and caring found at Pace, should it surprise us that God is giving us opportunities to share our faith beyond the walls of this gathering place? People here are generous in giving their money, their time, and their energy to good works. Some of the outreach is physical. Dozens of families made of hundreds of individuals are helped each month through our pantry and snack pack ministries. A lot of the food is purchased out of your contributions to the church treasury. Much of the food is donated week by week as members bring in grocery bags with the needed items. But, the outreach isn’t limited to physical needs. Your funds and your prayers go to support the mission work in Canada, in Ukraine, and in Columbia. You support the efforts to reach souls through the prison ministry, Escambia Christian School, Mt. Dora Children’s Home, and Gulf Coast Bible Camp. You’ve listened attentively to Gary Workman’s recent mission report and showed great interest in Steve Gober’s presentation regarding World Bible School. The Pace congregation is a wonderful group of believers. We’re certainly not perfect, but we are striving by God’s grace to better serve in the church he built. Today, give thanks to God for what he is doing among us. As the Apostle Paul said, “being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ;” (Philippians 1:6 NKJV).

In the Love of the Lord,

David
