CLASS NEWS NURSERY Next week will be our ‘reading week’. Due to our last day being Wednesday the children’s reading days will be: Monday: Suns Tuesday: Stars Wednesday: Moons

Reminder: Nursery’s last day of term is Wednesday 23rd March. RECEPTION Next week in literacy we will be learning about the ‘Easter story’. We will be writing a retell of the story focussing on our sentence checks (capital letters, finger spaces and full stops). In topic we will be following the instructions to make Easter nests. We will be using melted chocolate and cornflakes and we will be decorating them with chocolate mini eggs. Please let your class teacher know of any allergies that your child has and provide alternative ingredients. In phonics we will be continuing with reading and writing tricky words as well as revising phase 3 digraphs. Odds Farm Trip – Wednesday 23rd March Please arrive at school as normal for 8.50am. YEAR 1 As it is ‘Easter week’, we will be learning about why Christians celebrate Easter, making cards and little baskets. In English we will be focussing on using our phonics in games and handwriting. In maths we will be continuing to consolidate our use of the blank number line for calculations, counting money using different combinations of coins and carrying out weight and capacity investigations. Please ensure that you child has their library book on Tuesday as they are being collected in for the holidays. If you have misplaced the book please see your class teacher. PE kits need to come back on the first day of next term. Please ensure the whole kit, including trainers still fit your child and that all items are clearly marked with their name. Many thanks. Please remember that we finish early at 2.20pm on Thursday. We wish you a safe and happy Easter holiday.

YEAR 2 In English we will be working on exclamation sentences in letter writing, e.g. 'What an amazing performance!' Our phonics focus will be on suffixes - ment and - ness e.g. amazement, kindness. In maths, we will revisit multiplication and division word problems, writing corresponding number sentences and working out answers to them. We will also continue to read scales of different numbers and comparing properties of 2D and 3D shapes.

In RE we will be talking about the ‘Easter story’ and the symbols associated with Easter a cross, a chick, a bunny and a hot cross bun. In our next challenge, the children will be asked to choose an animal to research, this is in preparation for our new topic after the Easter holiday - ‘animal kingdom’. Reminder - school finishes on Thursday at 2:20pm. Have a lovely Easter holiday!
