Inside this issue: Our Year in Review

Well, another year has come and gone and the Woodbury Lions have done another fantastic job raising funds to help the Community. In 2010 we had our Inaugural Duck Race that raised over $10,000 for sight and hearing. Our car show had a modest showing; but, the Haunted Hayride was a haunting success—over $23,000 gross. We were able to give over $10,000 in academic scholarships to Nonnewaug students. In 2010 we also dedicated the Hollow Pavilion to Lion Bob Keating and installed or repaired benches dedicated to Lions Robert Keating, Jack Naylor, Ralph DeRienz, Leland Newell and Bruce Reichenback . May they all

rest in peace! In August we had our Volunteer Appreciation picnic at Munson’s Grove. We need to get more Volunteers to come to this event, but the people that were there had a great time. We also hosted the Tritown Picnic this year. Lions from Woodbury, Bethlehem and Watertown attended.

dion player led us in a verse of ―Dominic the Donkey‖ in which Lion Ed conducted the chorus.

During the Christmas holiday we gave generously to the Giving Tree– thank you Lion Karl, decorated the North Green Bandstand and had a spectacular luminary showing. Our Christmas party at Lion Roger B’s home was modestly attended by the Lions and their significant others. At the event an accor-

We will continue to work hard at our events and raise money for Woodbury residents that are in need.

Now it is on to year 2011! This is the year of our 75th Anniversary Charter Celebration. Hopefully, all Woodbury Lions and other dignitaries and guests will be able to attend the event.

On November 20th the Hollow Pavilion was dedicated to Lion Robert Keating. It was a glorious event. Many Lions and Lion Bob’s family members attended. We also installed 3 new benches and dedicated them to Lion Ralph DeRienz, Bob Keating and Jack Naylor. We repaired 2 other benches for Lions Leland Newell and Bruce Reichenback. Letters were received thanking us for our efforts. A relative of Lion Leland stated that her and her family greatly

appreciate what the Woodbury Lions do for the Woodbury Community and stated they were proud that Leland was a member. A very special thank you was received from Debbie DeRienz that read: Dear Lions, My family and I extend our deepest heartfelt appreciation for the beautiful bench dedicated in Ralph’s honor. The placement of the bench on Main Street South and Mountain road couldn't be more perfect. My husband was so proud to be a Lion because of the un-

selfish commitment you have for your community, family and friends. He enjoyed everything the Lions stood for. Thank you for inviting me to help at the car show, the haunted hay ride, and extending other invitations of appreciation. I feel that I’m continuing Ralph’s work by giving back to the community and helping the Lion’s family. We all truly blessed by your organization Our love to all, Debbie, Rebecca, Paul
