Outdoor Track Notes This Week: The Metro State outdoor track teams will both compete at the Jack Christiansen Invitational in Fort Collins, Colo., on Saturday.

Cherelle Cropp also had two personal bests in the 200 meters and 400 meters. Lexi LeVang joined Allen with a P.R. in the 800m and Sabrina Nelson and Krystin Yarkosky did so in the 1500m.

Metro State Update: Metro State qualified four of its eight participants at the Mt. SAC Relays last weekend. Anthony Luna posted the nation’s fastest time in the 800 meters, running in 1:49.10 for an automatic qualifying time. Only one collegiate runner ran faster than Luna at Mt. SAC.

For the men, Kellen Fockler had a tremendous improvement in his 5000 meters time, finishing ninth out of 15 runners on Saturday in 16:17.01. That time was over 30 seconds faster than his previous best in the event. Gabe Meidl posted personal bests in the 200m and 400m.

Nate Newland also qualified in the 1500m and Rick Bogatay in the 5k. Xenia Flores became the second woman in school history to hit a provisional time, doing so in the women’s 5k.

Jake Wolford’s 57.60 time in the 400 meter hurdles placed him fifth out of 16 runners and was also a P.R. Eiger Erickson and Sean Thoensen had personal bests in the 1500 meters.

The rest of the team was at the CSU-Pueblo Invitational on Saturday. Women’s runner Kery Allen had perhaps the best day, posting two personal bests in two different events. Her school record time of 4:57.26 placed her fourth out of 30 runners in the 1500 meter run and her time of 2:27.64 was 7th out of 33 competitors in the 800 meters. She is now less than eight seconds off a provisional qualifying time in the 1500m.

Luna Named RMAC Track Athlete of the Week: Anthony Luna was named RMAC Track Athlete of the Week on April 7. At the Tom Benich Invitational, he competed as an individual for the first time since last spring after suffering an injury during the indoor season that limited him to a late season appearance on the distance medley relay team this winter. He topped a field of 48 runners that included numerous NCAA Division I and professional runners, to win the 800m

at the Tom Benich Invitational in 1:52.70, a provisional qualifying time. He was the only RMAC men’s runner to win an event at the highly competitive meet. Luna also led the 4x400 meter relay team on Saturday, helping the team to a third place finish among 16 teams. He overcame four opponents, while anchoring the final lap to finish in 3:19.99. RMAC Preseason Poll: The men’s team was picked to finish sixth out of seven teams in the RMAC preseason coaches poll and the women’s team was picked 10th. Anthony Luna was selected as the men’s Preseason Athlete of the Year and joined Shawn Lindbom on the men’s preseason All-RMAC team. Outdoor Track Honors: Men: Rick Bogatay: • 2010 - Provisional NCAA qualifying time (5000m) • 2009 - Second team All-RMAC (1500m) • 2009 - Provisional NCAA qualifying time (1500m) Eiger Erickson:
