ALICIA GILBERT GRADUATING YEAR: 2018 My name is Alicia Gilbert, and I am currently in my junior year at Our Lady of Lourdes Academy, Miami, FL. I was a starter my freshman year on a very competitive junior varsity team that went undefeated. The following year, I was selected as the “bubble player” – playing on both the junior varsity and varsity teams. Junior year, I helped my team by playing as the starting middle on the varsity team. I worked very hard to earn that position and played hard to make my contribution. Volleyball was one of my favorite pastimes growing up. When I started to play competitively, during my freshman year in high school, I truly fell in love with the sport. Volleyball is a sport that I am passionate about and cannot imagine my high school development without it. I value the team camaraderie, and push myself to my highest capabilities for the betterment of the team. Besides the athletic skills developed as a team player, another valuable skill I have developed is time management. I have been successful in balancing rigorous school work, athletic training and tournaments. I am excited to play volleyball in college and am confident that I can manage what will be required of me. My commitment to the sport over these past years has taught me so much about myself, and has helped me develop physically, academically, and mentally. Because of this, I look forward to continuing my studies alongside future teammates, honing our skills and developing our futures while reaching for success on and off the court.
