CAROLINA BACA GRADUATING YEAR: 2018 My name is Carolina Baca. I am currently a Junior at Our Lady of Lourdes Academy, Miami, FL. I have been playing volleyball competitively since I was 11 years old. Being that I began playing at such a young age, my skills have been able to develop immensely along with my passion and drive to succeed in the sport. During my Freshman year, I was an Outside on the Junior Varsity team and later in the season was moved up to practice and play with Varsity team. My Sophomore and Junior year, I continued to play Outside on the Varsity team and was named captain Junior year. As I’ve gotten older my love for this sport has only grown and intensified and has become an important aspect of my life. Playing volleyball has helped me in developing my personality, not only on the court, but in other aspects such as school. It motivates me to stay focused and maintain my grades. I am determined, hard-working, and committed. I am an honor roll student with several academic accolades in correspondence with my grades. Throughout the years I have learned to manage my time efficiently and balance the rigorous demands of school and volleyball. Playing has taught me to work in a team environment and my experiences on a team have presented me in situations which have matured me as a person and a player. It has taught me to overcome any adversity presented by opponents as a team with a positive attitude. Being captain Junior year has taught me not only to lead by my actions, but to be a vocal leader and offer a positive impact to the team by doing so. These are all skills which I can contribute to a program of collegiate level.
