Ball State Postgame Notes Western Kentucky 33, Ball State 21 (Sept. 23, 2017) TEAM NOTES - Ball State debuted its new black helmet that featured an oversized Cardinal logo on the right side and the ‘Ball State’ word mark on the left. -

This was the third meeting between the two teams in Bowling Green. Ball State won the most recent match-up, a 24-7 victory in 2008. With the victory tonight, Western Kentucky evened the overall series at 2-all.

OFFENSIVE NOTES - Senior QB Jack Milas made his first start of the season as regular starter Riley Neal was out with a leg injury. -

Milas hit RB Malik Dunner with a 41-yard pass down the far sidelines late in the first quarter, marking Ball State’s longest pass play of the season.

Freshman RB Caleb Huntley scored twice to bring his season total to three touchdowns. Dunner added Ball State’s other touchdown and now leads the team with five touchdowns this season.

Freshman WR Justin Hall finished with a game high as well as personal-high 98 yards receiving on five catches.

DEFENSIVE NOTES - The defense tallied two red zone turnovers against WKU. Junior LB Damon Singleton tallied his first collegiate interception at the end of the first quarter. Freshman S Bryce Cosby came up with his second interception of the season in the end zone in the middle of the third quarter. -

Four different Cardinals tallied sacks. LB Jaylin Thomas, CB Verenzo Holmes and CB Antonio Phillips each recorded their first collegiate sacks. Senior DE Anthony Winbush added another sack to his total. Winbush now has 7.5 sacks on the season and needs four more to equal Ball State’s record of 25 sacks.

Singleton finished with a personal high and equaled a team season high with nine tackles.
