Ball State Postgame Notes Ball State 28, Tennessee Tech 13 (Sept. 16, 2017) TEAM NOTES - This was the first meeting between the two teams. Tennessee Tech, a member of the Ohio Valley Conference in the NCAA Football Championship Subdivision (FCS), falls to 0-32 all-time against FBS opponents.
OFFENSIVE NOTES - The Cardinals took the opening drive 12 plays, 75 yards for a touchdown. It was the second consecutive week Ball State scored a touchdown on its opening possession. -
RB James Gilbert recorded his first collegiate receiving touchdown, a 17-yard catch with nine seconds remaining in th the first half. That touchdown was Gilbert’s 24 career score as a Cardinal.

Ball State’s top three running backs all notched runs of at least 35 yards – Malik Dunner (66 yards), James Gilbert (48) and Caleb Huntley (37). Dunner’s run, which was Ball State’s biggest play from scrimmage this year, went for a touchdown with 2:21 left in the third quarter.

For the second consecutive week, freshman WR Justin Hall led the team in receptions (seven) and receiving yards (82). He also hauled in an eight-yard touchdown catch in the second quarter.
DEFENSIVE NOTES - Junior CB Josh Miller tallied his first interception of the season and second as a Cardinal in the second quarter. -
Freshman LB David Rueth notched his first collegiate interception late in the first half, which led to a Ball State touchdown.

Senior DE Anthony Winbush equaled a personal high with seven tackles. He entered the game leading the nation in sacks and added two more today to bring his season total to 6.5 sacks.

Freshman DE Christian Albright produced his first collegiate sack, which ended a Tennessee Tech drive in the first quarter.
SPECIAL TEAMS - Freshman P Nathan Snyder booted his longest punt of the season, a 52-yarder that was fair caught, in the first quarter.
