Ball State Postgame Notes Eastern Michigan 56, Ball State 14 (Nov. 2, 2017) TEAM NOTES - Eastern Michigan broke a six-game losing streak to Ball State at Rynearson Stadium tonight. EMU’s last home win against Ball State had come back in 2003.

OFFENSIVE NOTES - Ball State started its fourth quarterback of the season – redshirt freshman Drew Plitt. Ball State’s top three quarterbacks are all injured – junior Riley Neal, senior Jack Milas and redshirt freshman Zack Blair. -

Redshirt freshman QB Drew Plitt recorded his first collegiate touchdown pass and freshman WR Khalil Newton tallied his first collegiate touchdown catch on the same play. Plitt found Newton on a 25-yard post pattern on Ball State’s second drive of the game. That catch was also Newton’s first reception as a collegiate player.

Junior WR Brennan Gillis made his Ball State debut. He made a 16-yard catch on his first play in the game to set up a Ball State touchdown in the second quarter.

Redshirt freshman TE Nolan Givan made his team-leading third touchdown catch of the season in the second quarter.

DEFENSIVE NOTES - Senior DE Anthony Winbush tallied a strip sack in the middle of the first quarter. Winbush now has five forced fumbles, which is tops in the nation. Winbush is also one sack shy of tying the program record of 25 held by defensive line coach Keith McKenzie.

SPECIAL TEAMS - Junior K Morgan Hagee missed a 41- and 44-yard field goal attempt tonight. He had made six straight field goal attempts coming into tonight’s game.
