Classes & Events KNIT & CROCHET NIGHTS Cost: No charge Date: Ongoing Thursdays Time: 5 pm – 7 pm Prerequisites/skill level: All skill levels Class Description: Come to knit or crochet & laugh with your knitting friends. This is a social event with no instruction.

GARTERLAC DISHCLOTH—This dishcloth will get you familiar with how enterlac works in a quick and easy process. This is easy-peasy enterlac. We will start with one stitch and build our triangles and squares. Since it’s all done in garter stitch, there’s no purling, just knitting and a few increases and decreases. You’ll have your first garterlac dishcloth finished before you know it and be ready to start another! We will also provide you with ideas for other project possibilities using this easy technique.

**NEW CLASS**BEGINNING CROCHET— Learn the basics of crochet while making a darling baby blanket. Great class for beginners and those needing a little refresher, perfect for the knitter who wants to learn crochet. CABLED SCARF—Make this beautiful cabled scarf out of any of our gorgeous worsted weight or DK weight yarns. This class will help you get started on making cables to create a very handsome scarf for the man in your life, or keep it for yourself. Just one class will get you confidently on your way to completing this stunning scarf. You won’t believe how easy this project is to complete. Skill Level: Intermediate Skill requirements: Confident beginners who can cast on, knit, purl, and bind off. Teacher—Mary Dick Wednesday, Jan. 9, 6-8pm, $20 BEGINNING KNITTING—This two-week series is for the absolute beginner and those who need a refresher. The course will cover casting on, knit, purl, simple stitch patterns, increase, decrease, fixing simple mistakes and binding off. Our project will be a dishcloth out of cotton yarn. Teacher: Janet Gibson Wednesday, Dec. 12 & 19, 11am-1pm, $30 MITTEN KNITTIN’101—Have you considered knitting mittens for your family, but thought they were “too hard”? This class will take the mystery out of mittens. Cyndy will help you through the trickiest parts, and in no time you’ll be knitting mittens for the entire family. Skill Level: Intermediate Prerequisites: MUST know how to long-tail cast on, knit, purl, increase, decrease, and work to a consistent gauge. **NEW CLASS**WOVEN PATTERNED HAT —Here’s a close-fitting beanie style hat that uses sock yarn. The woven pattern stitch gives it style as well as elasticity. This is a GREAT first project after you’ve learned how to knit. You will learn how to knit in the round! It’s simple and quick. We will meet twice to get all the finishing touches completed. TOP-DOWN SOCK USING MAGIC LOOP -- Ready to learn magic loop? Want to learn how to make socks, too? This class will cover the basic parts of a classic top-down sock with heel flap and gusset. As an added bonus, you will also learn how to knit using the magic loop method. Students will complete a classic, well-fitting sock using sock (fingering) weight yarn and a circular needle. Skill Level: Intermediate Prerequisites: Must know how to cast on, bind off, knit, purl, consistently work to gauge, and read basic pattern instructions. Teacher: Jean Grapentine Monday, Jan. 7, 14, & 21, 3-5pm, $40 **NEW CLASS**FUN WITH GRANNY SQUARES— Granny squares are just fun and addicting! Learn several different basic designs that can be used to make an afghan, tote bag and so much more. Must know how to single crochet. We'll learn more advanced stitches in class. Skill Level: Beginner Prerequisites: MUST know how to chain and single crochet. Teacher: Cindy Peters Wednesday, Dec. 12 & 19, 6-8pm, $30 Monday, Jan. 14 & 21, 10am-12noon, $30 OOPS, I MADE A MISTAKE — Frustrated when you make a mistake because you don’t know what else to do but start over? Here’s a class just for you. Learn how to fix common mistakes like twisted stitches and dropped stitches. Learn how to "tink", and frog. Change a knit stitch to a purl stitch. Use a life-line to go back past your mistake. Prerequisites: Must have experience with knitting, purling. If you have something that needs fixing, feel free to bring it along. Learn to use an Edge Perfect blade for your rotary cutter to create evenly spaced holes to crochet into. You’ll have the skills for a beautiful hand-made gift for that new baby when you’re done with this class. Prerequisites: Must know how to do basic crochet stitches or have taken Beginning Crochet class. Teacher: Cindy Peters Friday, Jan. 4 & 11 9-11am, $30 MAGIC LOOP TOE-UP SOCKS (2 AT A TIME)—This class will teach you how to make socks using the magic loop method from the toe up. Both socks are made at the same time. You will learn the Turkish cast-on for a seamless toe, a very simple short-row heel method, and Elizabeth Zimmerman’s Sewn bind off. After completing this course, you will be able to use these three skills for almost any sock design you desire. About Our Classes

**NEW KNIT-A-LONG****LOG CABIN BLANKET— Have you ever seen a log cabin quilt? Well, now you can knit one! Pick your five favorite colors and learn how to knit a beautiful log cabin blanket. This knit-a-long will teach you the techniques needed to complete the blanket, with the fun of knitting it with others. It’s all done in garter (knitting) stitch, so it’s easy and fun. Go at your own pace in the knit-a-long. We’ll start the first class in January, with others to follow in coming months. Skill Level: Intermediate Prerequisites: Must know how to cast on, bind off, knit, consistently work to gauge, and read basic pattern instructions. To sign up for a class, please pre-register to reserve your space. Payment must be received at time of registration. Classes have a minimum of 3 students and refunds are available up to one week before the first class session. In fairness to the teachers and other students who have purchased their supplies, we are unable to make refunds after that time. Supplies are needed for all classes and a supply list will be furnished when you register. The class fee covers instruction only, but there is a 10% discount on all supplies needed for the class. Materials for classes at Knitting Next Door must be purchased at Knitting Next Door so that we can remain in business to keep offering you more great classes! Due to student and teacher allergies, please refrain from wearing perfumes and scented lotions to class.

FEBRUARY BABY SWEATER—If you have a special new baby you want to knit for or want to polish your techniques for a larger project, this little charmer is for you! The design states it is a “practically seamless sweater”, but we’ll show you how to complete it with absolutely no seams to sew. This Elizabeth Zimmermann classic has plenty of varied techniques to keep you interested until your finished—garter stitch
