Calico Christmas Sampler Block 1- Ole St. Nick
5” x 7” Start with 6” x 8” background. Trace appliqué patterns onto fusible web (or print onto printable fusible with ink jet printer). The patterns are reversed. Iron fusible to wrong side of wool. Cut out on the lines. Use placement pattern to fuse appliques onto applique pressing sheet and then onto background. Stitch appliqués down using blanket stitch and matching threads. Use Olive Green Valdani 12 wt. pearl cotton and a lazy daisy stitch to add detail to the fur trim on coat. Use a outline stitch to make a crease in jacket. Stitches are shown in in blue on placement pattern. Use two French Knots to make his eyes. Use a pinking rotary blade to trim background to 5” x 7”. Proudly display until next month! Enjoy!
