Calico Christmas Sampler Block 5 – “Christmas Tree”
3” x 6” Start with 4” x 7” background. Trace appliqué patterns onto fusible web (or print onto printable fusible with ink jet printer). Iron fusible to wrong side of wool. Cut out on the lines. Use placement pattern to fuse appliques onto background. Stitch appliqué using blanket stitch and matching threads. Trace the details (shown in blue on placement pattern) onto Sulky Tear Easy Stabilizer. Pin in place. Stitch a chain stitch and brown Valdani 12 wt for the tree trunk and Fern stitch with green Valdani 12 wt to make the pine needles. Sew red beads among the pines as show in red on placement pattern or as desired.
Use a pinking rotary blade to trim background to 3” x 6”. Proudly display until next month! Enjoy!
