A Look at the Brewers
The Vassar College women’s volleyball team will look to get back into the win column this evening, as the Brewers have dropped three of their last four contests. The Brewers are 5-4 in non-conference action this year, with their last non-conference victory coming two Wednesday’s ago on the road at Hunter College. Tonight’s game also is the first for VC in Kenyon Hall since September 9, a stretch of 28 days on the road for Vassar. After tonight, VC will play three more home matches, with two coming next Friday evening in the Athletics & Fitness Center for a Liberty League crossover. The squad has gotten solid production from the top of the hitting lineup, as three players currently have over 100 kills on the season, led by the 155 by freshman Devan Gallagher. Junior Gabby Miller and sophomore Bria Corham have 148 and 103, respectively, while Chloe Hallum leads the team in digs with 216 this year.
A Look at THE Ducks
The Ducks have had a pretty strong season and are sitting on a winning record thus far. They’ve seen 19 contests to date, including the Stevens Invitational where they posted a 2-0 record, the Greyhound Invitational where they went 3-1, the Ducks Classic where they went 2-2, and the Asics Invitational where they dropped all four matches. At present, the Ducks are hitting .179 and have buried 752 kills on the season. The Ducks’ sophomore libero, Sydni Horner, recently became the ninth player in Stevens’ history to post 1000 digs - her final was recorded against Western Connecticut State University. In the same match, the team hit .307 overall and posted nine aces. Junior hitter Mary Tobin also broke school history, reaching her 1,000th career kill playing Utica College earlier in October. Tobin is the fifth player in Stevens volleyball history to reach this landmark.

BREWER BIO on ... Gabby Miller Miller, a junior from Scottsdale, Arizona, has been a jack of all trades for the Brewers over her three seasons in the burgundy and gray. Miller is one of Vassar’s best hitters as she is second on the team in kills and hitting percentage, while also leading the team in service aces with 32. Miller rarely comes off the floor for the Brewers, as her service receive is among the best on the team. Miller comes into tonight’s match with 117 digs on the season, second among Vassar players, and leads the team as well in total blocks with 32. Last season, Miller was forced into setting duties after some injuries and performed nicely, showing her dedication and team-first attitude. Miller was named as a team captain as a junior this season, and has posted six contests with 10 or more kills, adding three 10+ dig performances and 10 outings with two or more blocks.
