4th November 2016 Dear Parents, Welcome back! I hope you all had an enjoyable half-term holiday with your children. They have settled back into school very well and we have a busy term ahead, particularly in the lead up to Christmas. The children went to Mass this week for the Feast of all Saints and our Year 6 children went to Parish Mass for Holy Souls. We will be having a Remembrance Day Mass on Friday, 11th November 2015 at 9.15am and a warm welcome awaits all parents who would like to join us. Poppies will be available in school next week for a small donation. November - Month of Holy Souls During November we remember all those who have died and the children have the opportunity to write prayers and reflections relating to people in their own families and amongst their friends who they want to remember and pray for. Each class has a prayer basket/box that is used throughout the month. It has been Multi-Faith week and the children have been looking at Holy books, scriptures and beliefs across different faiths which they have found to be very interesting. Own Clothes Day – THURSDAY, 10th November 2016 We will be having an `own clothes day` next Thursday, 10th November 2016 instead of Friday, 11th November, as we have our Remembrance Mass in Church that day. The `own clothes day` will be in exchange for bottles, gifts and chocolates for our Christmas Fayre which takes place on Friday, 2nd December 2016 at 3.30pm on the Junior Site. Reception – 2017 We will be holding an additional Reception open session in the near future and we will let you know when this will take place. Please remember that completed preference forms need to be returned to Birmingham Admissions & Appeals by 4th December 2016. School admissions prefer applications to be made online at www.birmingham.gov.uk/schooladmissions or the postal address is School Admissions & Pupil Placements Service, Birmingham City Council, PO Box 16513, Birmingham, B2 2FF.

We welcome two new members of staff this term, Mrs Seager, who will be working with our Year 6 children and Mrs Thomas, who has joined our admin team as an Office Manager.

Congratulations to Miss Harrison from the admin team who recently married and is now `Mrs Henn`. We wish the happy couple a long and happy life together. Website, newsletters and green dates sheet! Please remember to check our school website on www.stmryjon.bham.sch.uk as well as newsletters that come home with every child every Friday and the green dates sheet for dates and times of all events so far planned. We may also occasionally send home texts as reminders but hope that you will have already made a note on calendars and in diaries of any events you will need to be aware of during the school year. Texts are sent only as a means of reminding parents occasionally of events and unfortunately, as we are aware, may be too short notice for you to make arrangements to attend a specific function. We therefore strongly recommend that you check the website, newsletters and green dates sheet. Please do not hesitate to telephone the office if you wish to check on a date and you cannot find the information you need via the above means. Thank you.

Late arrival in school! Any children who arrive late in school must be brought to the school office by parents who need to log their child in. This is a safeguarding matter and it is very important that children are accompanied into school by parents when they arrive late.
