Those who were there on the sale days had great fun and met some very interesting people! We had a wonderful variety of items, very artfully displayed thanks to Laura’s husband David, and her friend Elaine!!
AOII Convention - Washington D.C. - June 28 to July 1, 2017 Thank you for sending me to convention!! It was a wonderful four days. There were lots of highlights, some of which I will share with you at the September meeting. One of the big highlights is that AOII has rolled out a new brand. The tag line is “Inspire Ambition (but written in a special script - which of course I don’t have.) We will be using the infinity rose rather than the rose you are use to seeing. That familiar rose will be used exclusively by the AOII Foundation. I received a whole book of Brand Standards that speaks to color, fonts, rational, etc.!! I will be sharing it with you over the next few months. Lots of thought and effort!! The infinity symbol is “subtly intertwined, recognizing the lifelong bond of friendship and membership in Alpha Omicron Pi. The infinity rose petals, symbolize our four founders, Stella, Helen, Jessie, and Bess, who chose to live, learn, lead, and serve with ambition, emphasizing the significance of character, dignity, scholarship, and college loyalty.”
The Ritual, Traditions, and Jewelry Committee announced that the panda is now the official mascot of AOII!!
The infinity rose is now the only approved symbol that should be displayed within the Greek letters. The only exception is the use of sports balls in place of the infinity rose or “O” when referencing Alpha Omicron Pi athletics or philanthropic events. If you go on the AOII website you will see a new format which is easy to navigate. You can also learn more about the new brand. Give it a try!! alphaomicronpi.org
Another highlight was to walk up to receive five awards on your behalf. Because of your time and talent commitment to Chicago NW we again were recognized as one of the eight outstanding alumnae chapters in the US and Canada! Thank you for all you do!!
We received……. Honorable Mention for Excellence in Fundraising Alumnae Philos Award for Panhellenic Excellence Excellence in Sisterhood Excellence in Community Involvement Chapter Excellence Award - Given to only eight chapters. During the three business sessions, we sat in alphabetical order. We considered 64 amendments, passed 3 resolutions, voted on the new budget, elected an executive board and a Foundation board, and convened an AOII Foundation board meeting.
We went to a Strike Out Arthritis Event at Nationals Park where the Arthritis Foundation recognized AOII for their contributions. Over this two year period we donated over $1,000,000. for Arthritis Research and Education. Cubs Won!!!!! After the game we took an amazing night tour of some of the Washington sights.
The National Zoo, which is within walking distance of the hotel, opened early for a special program on pandas, just for AOII.
This is the banquet hall where the Awards Dinner and Rose Banquet where held. Picture a friendship circle with over 900 delegates and attendees!!
International President, Gayle Fitzpatrick, presented the eight Alumnae Chapter of Excellence Awards.
Past International Presidents had a story telling session much like Stella, Jess, Helen, and Bess!
Ritual, Traditions, and Jewelry Committee has approved a 75 year pin. They presented the very first one to Peg Crawford, Past International President.
