Unit 1: All About God
Devotion: “In the beginning, God!” (from Genesis 1:1) There is no one like Him! God is the most powerful being that exists. He created everything. Is it even possible that someone else created God? NO! God is THE Creator. Read Revelations 1:8 again. God says that He is the Alpha and the Omega. Alpha is the first letter of the Greek alphabet and Omega is the last letter. So what is God saying about Himself here? What is the first letter of the alphabet? A! What comes before A? Nothing. God says of Himself that He is the A AND the Z. He is the beginning AND the end. Nobody comes before Him and nobody comes after Him. Since nobody came before God, we know that nobody existed to create Him! That is what we mean when we say God is “everlasting.” Everlasting means that He has always been here, even before the beginning of the world, and will continue to always be here. Look around you. Think about the world outside. Trees, mountains, air, animals, people... they all have a Creator: God! Now think about things like cars, houses, chairs, and computers. They all have creators too: people! Using the imagination, tools, and skills given to them by God, people create things all the time. There is nothing and no one who does not have a creator, except God! He is the only being that exists that has always existed. Nobody made Him! Truly, there is no one like our God.
Crafts/Activities: • “God Made” Poster: Make a collage of things that God made. Write “God created…” at the top. Cut out pictures of things God created and glue them on. You could also glue on bits from a nature walk, write descriptions, or draw pictures to represent creations of God. Write “Nobody made God” on the bottom.

Omega
God is the Alpha and Omega! He existed before creation and will exist forever in the future. Create a timeline showing some major events in history, including creation, the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, and your own life! Cut the circles out and glue them onto the timeline. The Alpha and Omega symbols remind us that God is the beginning and the end and that He is sovereign over all time and history.
