amaysim Guide to Setting up MOBILE BROADBAND Devices This guide will help you get your MOBILE BROADBAND device set-up and connected to the internet.
What is a MOBILE BROADBAND device? A MOBILE BROADBAND device lets you connect to the internet and includes: •
Pocket WiFi
•
USB Dongle
•
SIM enabled laptops
What is the difference between an Access Number and an APN? The APN (Access Point Name) is a computer and mobile internet protocol that allows a computer or phone to access the internet using the mobile phone network. The Access Number replaces the old dial up telephone number that your computer’s modem used to dial into the internet through your phone line. Depending on the software of the MOBILE BROADBAND device you are using, you may be asked for just an APN or both an APN and an Access Number.
Is your MOBILE BROADBAND device unlocked? Please ensure that your MOBILE BROADBAND device is unlocked and that you have the latest firmware (download from the manufacturer’s website). You may need to contact your current provider to have your device unlocked before you can start using your amaysim SIM card.
How to set up your device The following steps will help you get your amaysim SIM card working in your MOBILE BROADBAND device. The software used by MOBILE BROADBAND devices will vary, depending on the manufacturer. Please see your device manual for instructions on how to enter these settings. Let’s get started! 1. The software on your device will contain a Profile Management page. Generally you can find this under Tools, Options, Network, Registration Mode and then by selecting Profile Management 2. Under Profile Management, delete any existing profiles (if necessary) 3. Select New Profile. Change profile name to amaysim 4. Under IP select Static 5. In the APN field, enter internet 6. Change the access number to *99# 7. Leave Username blank 8. Leave Password blank 9. Save your new profile and set as default 10. Check that the correct APN on step 5 has been entered on the Profiles page 11. You’re now connected

Common Errors
If your connection is not working
To fix common errors, try these troubleshooting hints
Try unplugging or restarting your MOBILE BROADBAND device, wait until the MOBILE BROADBAND device has selected the network, depending on your device you may see a flashing light.
• Check the settings to make sure the Access number is *99#
Try connecting again.
Error 678: an incorrect access number has been selected
Error 720: an incorrect APN is in use • Check the settings for the APN and change if needed
If you’re still not able to connect Restart your computer. Try a manual network selection. To do this, you’ll need to refer to your user manual. (Generally, you can find a user manual online if you search for the name and model.) 1. Uninstall and reinstall the software
Error 777: the connection has failed because the computer’s modem is not working. This can occur if the modem’s drivers have not been installed properly • Uninstall and reinstall the modem (see user manual) • Download drivers from the manufacturer if needed
2. Try to connect 3. Try your device in another USB port 4. Test your SIM in a mobile phone to make sure that the network is being found 5. Refer to the manufacturer for help with the device. The manufacturer’s contact details should be in the manual or you can search for contact details online 6. Call amaysim Customer Service if the SIM card is still not working
Error 633: another program has tried to access the internet and the modem is unable to connect • Press and hold CTRL, ALT and DEL buttons at the same time • Click the Task Manager • Select the Processes tab • S croll through the list of programs running and select Modem Software • Select End Process • Try to reconnect
