“You may not be a Picasso or Mozart but you don’t have to be. Just create to create. Create to remind yourself you’re still alive. Make stuff to inspire others to make something too. Create to learn a bit more about yourself.” - Frederick Terral

Day Two Assignment: Jot down a few notes about what you discovered in your Gallery tour. Answer these questions, and remember, there are no right or wrong answers. 1. Looking through the layout galleries, did you open a lot of thumbnail images to see the page up close, or did you“screen” your choices and only open a few? If you screened, by looking mostly at the thumbnails, why? 2. Of the pages you opened, were there any that really impressed you? Any that you’d love to be able to recreate? What was it that attracted you to those pages? 3. About how many favorites did you save or add to a document or folder? 4. Did you spot any new trends, or discover any layout styles you had never seen before? 5. What color palettes did you gravitate toward the most? Fill in the blanks: I really LOVED pages that were ________________________________________________________________ I really didn’t care for pages that were __________________________________________________________ In terms of photography, what kind of photos attracted you most? Color, black-and-white, sepia, altered or digitally enhanced photos, etc.? ________________________________________________________________ In terms of photo composition, what were some of the most interesting features you observed? Shallow depth-of-field (blurred background with foreground subject in focus), off-center composition (rule of thirds), tilted images, inventive focal point, etc.? _________________________________________________________ Open up three of the favorites you’ve chosen. Then open up three of your own layouts or photos. Take a look at them side by side. What do you see? Notice the differences between your work and the work you’ve chosen from the various galleries you visited. Are they major differences, which would require a significant change in direction for you? Or are they minor differences, which could be accomplished with a few adjustments here and there? _________________________________________________________________________________ That’s it! Just jot down couple of thoughts about where you’ve been today.
