Kindergarten Newsletter January 26, 2017 Important Dates Feb. 2: 100th Day of School Feb. 3: 101 Dalmatian Day (Wear black & white) Feb. 7: Spring & Class Picture Day Feb. 14: Valentine’s Day Party March 2: Dr. Seuss Reading Night (5-6:30pm) March 3: Wear your “cowboy/girl” clothes for Texas Independence Day
Our 100th Day celebration is on Thursday, Feb. 2nd! If you can, please send in a little something for the kids to share and count. Examples: crackers, fruit loops, pretzels, chocolate chips, etc. IT NEEDS TO BE DRY!
Classroom News We have had a very fun week in kindergarten! We learned a lot about the day and night sky, our moon, and the sun! We also learned all about the letter/sound Vv and the sight word said. We will continue to use our new letters for building words. Continue to practice letters and sounds each night if your child is having difficulty. Please be reading with your child each night! (Even if it’s simply going over the finished work they brought home from school.) Every little bit helps!
Literacy Tip: Keep a look out for color WORDS and sight words said, for, is, to, and, he, you, go, & the. Math Tip: Practice counting to 80 and going over numbers 0-20 any chance you get!

What We’re Learning Reading: Next week, we will be studying the letter Ww /w/. We will discuss the letter sound and the letter formation. We will use the sound to blend words and make new words. We will also learn the sight word-are. Math: We will wrap up working on 2D shapes and begin our unit on counting to 100.
Writing: We will practice the correct way to write numbers 0-20, our names with only the first letter capitalized, and writing sentences in our journal.

V= “sliding, sliding” v= “slide, slide” W= “sliding, climbing. sliding, climbing”
W=”slide, climb, slide, climb”

Science/Social Studies: Next week we will be learning about teeth. We will discuss things we can do to keep our teeth healthy, good foods for our teeth and how to brush!
Class Valentine Parties Valentine parties will be held on Tuesday, February 14th. Please be looking for more information about the party this coming week in your child’s folder!
