Mrs. Dudley’s Classroom News Mad Scientist Day Friday, February 20 is Mad Scientist Day! Have your child come dressed as a mad scientist! We will be doing science related activities all day including going to 2 special presentations. Your child’s daily behavior will play a role in how much they get to participate in this fun day.

Language Arts We are starting to work on making our sentences more “juicy.” We are going to be spending the next few weeks writing sentences that contain singular and/or plural nouns and verbs. Please continue giving your child words to sound out and spell because we really need more practice at this. We are still working with blends and writing words that have a sneaky e to make the vowel long. Also, we will be working on the phonics sound “oo” as in zoo.

Math We are still practicing compose and decompose numbers 11-19 using tens and ones. We will also be working on showing addition and subtraction problems through using objects and drawings. I will either give them a story problem and they will have to use cubes to show me how to solve it, or I will give them a number sentence and they will have to draw counters to show their thinking.
