Mrs. Dudley’s Classroom News Attached Note There is a very important note attached to this newsletter. Please read it carefully and get the bottom half returned no later than Wednesday, Dec. 10.
Language Arts With the end of the semester wrapping up, we are really trying to work on doing more things independently. Here are a few skills your child should be able to do by this point in the year:
Sound out simple words
Write 1 simple sentence making sure to use a capital letter, have spaces between their words, have an end mark, and it should make sense
Forming all letters (upper- and lowercase) correctly and using the lines (when given) correctly
*These are all skills that will be assessed this next 9-weeks.
Math We have started learning the basics to addition and subtraction sentences. Work with your child to know what the signs are for each of those topics, how to know which type of sentence it is, and how to gather the correct information from a word problem. Also, we still have quite a few kiddos who are writing their numbers backwards. Again, these are skills that will be assessed on the report card. Please continue working at home with your child

Coming up: 1. Everyday Folders: Please
make sure you are checking your child’s folder every night and taking the papers out. Leaving papers in there makes it harder to pack up at the end of the day
2. Reading Bags: Please be
sure to read through their story at least once every night! They really need the extra practice at home to help them to become confident readers. Also, make sure you are sending the correct book and the flashcards in the bag
3. Behavior Charts:
Remember to initial your child’s chart every night.
4. Homework Folders:
Remember that homework folders are to be turned in on Fridays. The work needs to be completed and done well.
