Love & Logic Overview at Next Principal’s Café by Kim Zawilski Please make plans to join me along with special guest presenter, Angela Boley, for an overview of the Love & Logic Positive Discipline Program at the next Principal’s Café on Wednesday, Nov. 2nd. Angela is October 28th a certified Love & Logic trainer and an exciting and knowledgeable presenter. Angela is also a former and well-loved colleague of the Shingle Springs staff. It will be a joy to have her back on campus to share tips and tricks about the Love & Logic program, how we utilize it November 1st at the school and how you can implement it at home. November 2nd Fire Safety Prevention Month by Kim Zawilski We would like to extend a heartfelt “thank you” to the crew at November 3rd Station 28 who provided a very informative presentation to our K-3rd grade students today! Follow-up assignment: home fire exit plans.
Red Ribbon Week October 24th-October 28th! What is Red Ribbon Week? The red ribbon campaign is now the oldest and largest drug prevention program in the nation reaching millions of young people. It is an ideal way for people and communities to unite and take a visible stand against drugs. Why Red Ribbon Week? We see this as an opportune time to talk to the kids about living a healthy lifestyle and staying drug free. We feel a proactive education is the best way to help kids make safe decisions throughout their life. What is the school doing? Today the students received presentations by local Sheriff and CMP Parent Christopher Stelz about drug awareness and drug prevention. Officer Stelz is trained on how to talk to kids about this sensitive topic and each lesson was geared appropriately to the grade level of the audience. Monday (10/24): Wear all RED – “Love yourself, be drug free” Tuesday (10/25): Wear Neon – “Too bright for drugs” Wednesday (10/26): Wear Sunglasses – “Shade out drugs” Thursday (10/27): Wear a cap or hat – “Put a cap on drugs” Friday (10/28): Free Logo Day – “Free to be me, say no to drugs”

Encouraging Excellent Attendance
In the month of September 256 students had perfect attendance and will receive a Free Logo Day on Thursday, October 27th. We all know how important regular school attendance is for students and the whole school community. We think it’s important to do what we can to recognize students with excellent attendance. Each month, students with 100% attendance are given a special recognition: a Certificate and a Free Logo Day!! At the end of the school year, students who have maintained their 100% attendance will be treated to a special “Breakfast with the Principal”. Thank you for doing all YOU can do, as parents, to encourage and help your student(s) achieve attendance excellence.

Middle School Holiday Ornament Fundraiser
CMP Athletics by Mrs. Thomas Please check the CMP website under Athletics for all pertinent sports info.
In the grand Walmart tradition of starting the holidays prior to Halloween, the Shingle Springs CMP Campus Middle School is selling locally hand-crafted glass ornaments. Every one slightly different than the next, they are being created in six holiday colors and three different shapes. Proceeds will be shared between the Middle School (30%) and the artists. Aaron and Tate Bezdek graduated from Ponderosa High School recently, have honed their craft, and are working toward opening their own glass studio. Order forms are going home in today’s Hawks folders. Examples of these ornaments and additional order forms are on display in both offices. Believe Catalogue Fundraiser Our Believe Fundraiser kicks off today! This fundraiser will run from October 24th-November 4th. Catalogues are only being sent home with the eldest student of each family, but online ordering and selling are encouraged! There are great gifts, wrapping paper and other knickknacks; stop by the upper elementary office to see some samples. The best part of this fundraiser is all monies earned can be deposited directly into your child’s field trip account!!
