Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme Bronze Equipment List To Wear Walking  Walking boots (worn in well beforehand)  Pair (or 2) of walking socks  Trousers (synthetic, NOT pure

 Thermal top/tee shirt (base layer)  Sweater (wool or fleece, mid layer) Personal Kit (to carry)  Rucksack (55-65litre capacity)  Waterproof rucksack liner (You can by these however a thick garden rubbish bag will work fine)  Sleeping mat (e.g. Karrimat)  Sleeping bag (2-3 season, in a waterproof bag)  Waterproof jacket with hood  Waterproof overtrousers  Walking socks for second day  Underwear/hankies  Spare trousers/top as above (also for sleeping in)  Fleece/wool hat  Warm gloves  Personal medication (if essential)  Watch (This is important if you don’t have one buy a cheap one for the weekend)  Notebook and pen/pencil  Torch & spare batteries & spare bulb (or 2nd torch) adequate for 3 hrs use  Water bottle 1-2 litres, strong plastic or metal  Knife, fork, spoon  Plate/bowl (plastic or metal)  Mug (check capacity as cooking measure)  Extra food (eg chocolate bar for emergencies)  Washkit  Small towel/trek towel
