CELERY
Here’s how to slice and dice fresh celery. Use as an appetizer or snack, in salads, and as an ingredient in another dish. Wash celery in step 3, not before. ______1.
Get fresh celery. Get cutting board. Get knife. Get a bunch of fresh celery, a clean cutting board and a clean, sharp knife.
______2.
Pull and tear. Using your hands, pull and tear off one stalk at a time from the celery bunch.
______3.
Wash celery. Using your hands, thoroughly wash each celery stalk. It’s easier to wash celery once the stalks are separated from the bunch.
______4.
Cut ends. Put one celery stalk on to the cutting board at a time and, using the knife, cut off both ends of the stalk. Throw away the stalk ends.
______5.
Cut larger pieces. To cut larger pieces, use the knife to cut the celery stalk into two or three fairly equal sized pieces. Use the knife to cut each of these pieces lengthwise so they will not be so thick. Continue cutting lengthwise until you are satisfied with the thickness of your celery slices.
______6.
Cut bite sized. To cut smaller, bite sized pieces, use the knife to continue cutting the celery from step 5. Or, cut the whole celery stalk from step 4 into one half inch thick pieces.
