Close
Both teams are getting incredibly close to demonstrating the type of effort necessary for postseason success. Recall that the varsity had our most challenging workout of the season on Wednesday, which is designed to have you at your best at the District meet. That workout, combined with another solid week of training, may have given some of you tired legs, which is to be expected at this time of the season. We will begin to slowly reduce our overall mileage in order to enable your legs to begin feeling fresher as we move towards the postseason. Continue your daily efforts in practice and be sure to get the proper rest, nutrition, and hydration, and we will be ready to be at our very best.
Focus
In order to maximize the success in whatever you are doing, it is critical that you are focused on the task at hand. In an effort to help you do that, we will put away our cell phones from the moment we begin our pre-race warmup and complete our race, and then while we are completing our post-race cool down and stretch. These distractions can prevent us from putting in the work and effort required for each of us to maximize our potential. I know that each of you want to enjoy the success that your hard work can provide you, so this small change may give you the edge necessary to do this. Being engaged and staying in the moment (with the teammates you are with) can be a big difference maker and enable the work you’ve put in to provide the results we hope to attain.
The League of Extraordinary Performances
This Saturday we will compete in the CVC League Championship meet at Berkshire. I wish all of you the very best as you represent Perry and take on all of our conference opponents in what should be a highly competitive meet and a great tune up for the District meet for our varsity teams. Make it a great week of training and be determined to give your team a great effort at this meet, and we can enjoy the moment together. The difference between ordinary and extraordinary is that little extra, so reach deep and find that extra effort to achieve greatness. For the final week of the regular season, let’s congratulate senior ALEX GESSIC and junior TYLER MORGAN for their performances this week. Boo has been incredibly consistent this season and provided her team with great depth at the five spot on Saturday in the Legends Meet. Boo’s focus and determination have been vital to her success thus far. Tyler led his team from start to finish while turning in an aggressive performance. T’s race mirrored what we have seen more of from him in recent practices: aggression and determination. Congratulations to both Alex and Tyler.
