The Art of Having It All A Woman’s Guide to Unlimited Abundance

Christy Whitman, The Acclaimed New York Times Best-Selling Author

Having it all is not about striving for perfection, or about living our lives according to someone else’s standards or expectations (we’ve done that for far too long). It’s not about working ourselves to a state of exhaustion, spreading ourselves too thin, or trading inner peace and contentment for outer trinkets of success. Been there. Done that too. Having it all simply means having access to all of yourself, in any moment you choose it, and in every aspect of life that is important to you.

C:

I would like to ask you how do you define having your all in your life?

Alexis

Neely: in my life having it all really looks like having absolute clarity about what success means to me and not having it based on some external factors of the best-selling book and million-dollar businesses and all the things that I strive for and achieved three times in my life but each time I got there it felt really empty because I didn’t actually have it all what was missing with the relationship of my children and my community and my partner. I didn’t have time for any of that so while I had external success I did not have it all. So my it and my all today are both and, being able to be successful in my business is that I don’t have to be the CEO and one in charge of everything to be able to get my workout in the world and space for me to be able to hold a bigger container that allows for me to also have time space and energy to put into relationships with my children, with my ex-husband, with my partner and with my community and ultimately those are the most valuable assets if we are looking at the range of assets, to me in that what it means to have it all. Yeah and they’re shared. All the past successes were very solo, graduating first of my law school class it was me, building my milliondollar law practice even though I had a team it was me I didn’t really share that success with my team. I did not know how to do that and then holding my next million dollar business, it was me. That’s where the empty part was so today first having gone through the process of letting go of all of that to find what I really want and then coming back to it from a completely different perspective what I realized it it’s all about the relationship. Even if now having a business is a rebuilt again it’s not me, I might be the face that those businesses, but they are run by teams of people who care as much about the work is I do, each of us are in our individual right role and that part is also very important because successful people especially people like me we can begin a lot of different roles and take it on ourselves not having it all but it’s hoarding it all and I am not a big fan of hoarding anything, but giving is much as we can possibly away and keeping what really matters which is relationships.

C:

What’s the core belief that you hold to be true either about yourself or the universe for you to really experience your life where you are really having it all?

Alexis

Neely: what I most believe to be true about myself in the universe is that every challenge or every conflict is a greater opportunity for me to be more of who I really am. For you and all of us who we really are that if we can look at the most challenging experiences in our lives not as an opportunity to shrink back and withdraw back into old patterns and conditioning but instead to grow bigger and dive into those things that seem impossible, that’s where our growth lies and on the other side of it of the fear in thinking I can’t do this, is liberation.

C:

So when you’re in that state, in that present moment and you really feel like you do have it all, can you just describe what it is of that essence of how you feel?

Alexis

Neely: I think the feeling vibration that I’m giving out in that space is courage. That’s what’s coming to me the most right now is this feeling of you can do it. You can make it through even the things that you think are the most impossible, they are here for you with gifts to bring you to the next level of impact, desire, aliveness, life and it’s just holding onto that energy of yes I can do this. I’ll be honest I’m not always there, sometimes I go into the place that I can’t do it. And I have been really fortunate to surround myself with people who remind me that I can. It’s already all happening and I think that actual another belief I have about the universe that I think it’s important is that it’s all happening. It’s all already happening and in fact have this awareness recently here we are right here and everything you can possibly imagine is already happening right now in different weird time in space are grasped it’s all happening right now. It’s how we be in the now moment that impacts both the future and the past. That was a huge revelation I used to think impacts how I was in the future but it doesn’t it also impacts the past. And so when we can get back, when I caught that it opened up a whole new way of being for me that in those moments when I most want to shrink back into be petty

or mean some way it doesn’t feel super expansive inside if I can come back to remembering I have the reality right now and I’m not only creating it in this moment but I’m creating for the future and the past that gives me the courage to be able to be more in that moment. When we do that actually has the effect of changing our memories. Because we can reinterpret our memories which are just stories we tell ourselves in a whole new way that actually does change the past because what is the past? The memories and stories. And energy.

C:

What is one tip so others can feel that essence in their lives?

Alexis

Neely: I would say to choose something right now that is super challenging for you in your life think of the single most challenging experience you are having right now that perhaps you’ve been wanting to push away from or not deal with and bring it into your present moment right now, face it, look at it and make a choice about how do you want that reality? What would be the most amazing outcome that you can imagine happening from that experience and choose that. Choose that outcome and ask yourself who would I need to be, how would I need to be right now to step into that outcome as it relates to the situation? It might require you to let go to something you’ve been holding onto really tightly really trying to make it work or hold onto it and I encourage you to relax around that and make space for the outcome that you actually desire possibly by letting go of the thing you are holding onto most. And nobody else can do that work, she couldn’t do it for you, your husband couldn’t do it for you, you are the only one and even if he or she never let go, you have the power to change the entire dynamic when you let go.
