HENLLYS FARM WOODLANDS GENERAL DESCRIPTION This haven of woodland fertility contains mixed broadleaves in various states of maturity on a south east and south facing bank in rural Pembrokeshire. The aesthetics are superb and wildlife is present in abundance.

-------------------------------------------LOT 1:

ALLT PONT BALDWYN 5.8 hectares / 14.3 acres

Allt Pont Baldwyn has west and south-west aspects and rises from approximately 40 to 100 feet above sea level. It is nicely sheltered and the high degree of sunlight and summer warmth make for ideal growing conditions. There is a wide vegetation range growing at the field and shrub layers including holly, hazel, bluebells and ferns. Tree species are sycamore, oak, beech and ash over an understorey of hazel, silver birch and other mixed broadleaves. This is a small wood offering options to thin for firewood, encourage natural seeding or plant other species for increased diversity. For a minimal amount of input by the purchaser the reward could be increased capital value and enjoyment of ownership.

LOT 2:

COED HENLLYS 6.8 hectares / 16.8 acres

Coed Henllys faces south across pastures and a small tributary of the Afon Nyfer. Elevations are similar to lot 1, as are the fertile soils giving rise to similar luxuriant growth of flowers, trees and shrubs. The tree cover is mainly sycamore, oak and several other mixed broadleaves. At the eastern end of the wood is a partly cleared area replanted with silver birch and wild cherry. There is unusual diversity of structure and bird life is particularly variable, with woodpeckers active on the day of inspection. Small water courses bring moist conditions and ideal habitat for water-loving species. Thinning and opening small areas will transform the wood and increase diversity. It could also yield valuable firewood.
