Ride  of  the  Year

Tough  choice!    We  had  some  cracking  rides.    We’ve   been  to  the  seaside  Hertfordshire,  Kent,    Essex  plus   a  whole  load  of  local  London  rides.    Lots  of  our   regulars  voted  for  the  good  old  Flat  Kent  Ride,   which  uses  a   train  journey   to  get  folk   past  the   North   Downs  and   then   explores  the   flattest  bits   of  Kent  for   anything   from  30  to   60  miles.  It's   a  perennial   favourite  of   ours  and  is  a   London,  casualties  per  ridden  mile  have  actually   good   decreased,  even  a  minor  incident  can  make  you  feel   stepping   very  vulnerable  and  buddy  riding  can  really  help   stone  for   restore  confidence.   those  who     want  to  do  a   Kemi’s  ride  to  work  takes  her  right  through  the   borough,  from  Bellingham  to  the  Elephant  and  Castle.     bit  more   than  pootle   We  put  together  a  route  avoiding  most  main  roads,   following  the  Waterlink  Way  to  Ladywell  Fields,  then   in  parks  but   don't  feel  ready  for  the  hillier,  harder  stuff.    We  run   riding  up  from  the  Ravensbourne  Valley  along  what   it  several   will  be  a  new  quietway  to  Peckham  and  then  joining   times  a  year.     the  Surrey  Canal  Path  through  Burgess  Park.       Look  out  for     it  on  our   Kemi’s  riding  style  was  perfectly  suited  to  these   routes.  Stately  and  elegant,  she  glided    along,  passing   calendar.     walking  users  of  the  shared  paths  with  a  cheery  hello     We  ran   to  warn  them  of  her  approach,  and  giving  them   monthly   plenty  of  time  and  space.    She  could  give  a  few  more   family  rides   experienced  commuters  along  here  some  lessons  in   till  October   how  to  ride  along  these  paths!   and  I  think  I     I’m  not  sure  who  enjoyed  the  ride  more,  me  or  Kemi!   enjoyed  the   one  to   Spot  the  new  addition  to  our  family   She  embodies  exactly  what  we’re  campaigning  for   Horniman   rides:  super  bakfiets  trike  that  can   and  to  see  her  enjoying  a  simple  ride  through  the  city   most.   was    a  pleasure.  We  definitely  need  more  Kemis   Lewisham’s  hills  have  been  made  much  easier  for   riding  cycles  in  London!   our  family  ride  participants  since  we  added  the   lovely  Bakfiets  trike  to  our  loan  bike  stable!  It  has   electric  assist.  Marvellous!  One  of  our  parents       has  even  off  roaded  it  up  the  old  golf  course  in   Twitter  @lewicyclists   Beckenham  Place  Park,  another  of  our  family   Email:  [email protected]   ride  destinations!  Available  to  anyone  who   Telephone:  07826559603    Facebook:   joins  our  family  rides  and  has  children  who   https://www.facebook.com/groups/72380106728/   cannot  ride  independently.    Monthly  family   Website:  www.lewishamcyclists.co.uk   rides  will  start  again  in  March
