September 28 – October 2, 2015 Reading: Students will read aloud grade-level stories with fluency. Mini Lesson: Discuss what reading with fluency means. Have students practice fluency. Place fluency tips in Reading Notebooks. Social Studies: Week 6-Prehistoric Indians. Read and discuss pg.1 Answer questions. Reading: Students will describe the interaction of characters. Mini-Lesson: Introduce character traits by explaining and giving examples. Discuss the difference between traits and emotions. Hand out the list of character traits. Have students place character figures and list into their reading notebooks. Social Studies: Read and discuss pg. 2 Late Prehistoric Indians. Reading: Students will describe the interaction of characters. Mini-Lesson: Read the book Stand Tall Molly Lou Melon. Discuss Molly Lou’s character traits. Have students make a list of character traits that tell more about them. Social Studies: Read and discuss pg. 2 about the Jumano and the Coahuiltecan. Have students label a map of Texas where the Indians were lived. Reading: Students will describe the interaction of characters including their relationships and the changes they undergo. Compare and contrast the adventures or exploits of characters. Mini-Lesson: Review Stand Tall Molly Lou Melon. Have students compare and contrast the character traits of Molly Lou and Ronald Durkin. Social Studies: Students will make a Tri-o-rama about one of the tribes that they read about this week. Reading: Students will partner up and read to each other for 1 minute. LIBRARY – students will walk to the library to check out books. Social Studies: Have students answer Weekly 6 test.
