Teamed with Space Consultants, Cairo, SWA prepared a master plan for a 10,000-acre new city located 25 km east of central Cairo, Egypt. As Cairo continues to grow (now more than 20 million people), new satellite cities are developing to relieve the congested center. Madinaty is envisioned as a fully functional city with all the cultural, educational, health, recreation and religious activities. Neighborhoods offer a wide range of life-styles from highly urban to pastoral. The ultimate population is planned for 660,000.
