Serving the Lyme Community for over 100 years
Thanksgiving: a time to commit ourselves to being our Best One subject we spend a lot of time talking and thinking about at the Lyme School is our school values: Compassion, Responsibility, Integrity, Acceptance of Others, Fairness, Perseverance, Respect, Courage, and Individuality. Having the opportunities to demonstrate, practice and support one another to live by these values is one of the most important things we do. Thanksgiving is a holiday which we can use to renew our commitment each year to these values. For this reason Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays. Ok, yes, some of that appreciation is directed to the appreciation of turkey and stuffing, however food IS a legitimate thing we can be thankful for (not so much the food coma that follows).

So what else are we thankful for…..
the Lyme
School
Compassion Responsibility Integrity Acceptance Fairness Perseverance Respect Courage Individuality
My Mom and Dad because they made me; and our chickens because they are what got us to move to Lyme.
"
Having friends who are there for me when I need them most.
"
- Hazel, Grade 8
- Aiden, Grade 2 My Cat, because she likes to keep me company and is never upset with me.
"
- June, Grade 4
That I have a family who can help me with situations and my brother and sister.
"
- Garett, Grade 6
As for me I am thankful that each day in my work with students I get to be reminded of the potential of human beings to express basic human kindness, compassion and understanding.
Being able to see family members who I don’t get to see as much because they live far away.
My Dad because he is aways there for me and that I have a best friend.

Spot Imagination and Knowledge
"
In recognition of Thanksgiving we asked noted Thanksgiving expert, Tomas Turkey, his thoughts about creativity and imagination. Interview follows:
Newsletter: Mr. Turkey, a lot is said about sticking to tradition - “coloring within the lines” so to speak. What is your thought about imagination and creativity versus following tradition?
"
Mr. Turkey: Imagination is much more exciting from my point of view, we have to shake things up and think outside the box. Take thanksgiving for example, sure you could go with the status quo, but I think nothing says Thanksgiving like TOFU. It is today’s white meat for those that are edgy and hip.
" " " " " "
Newsletter: Hmmm… tofu. Yeah I don’t know… Tofu tastes like… well tofu….
Mr. Turkey: Use your imagination, Man! It can taste like anything you want! Tradition is for chumps… And it has fewer calories…. just saying.
