What does “Blisters for Books” Mean?
the Lyme
School
Aside from the obvious, it also means that we don’t raise money through taxes for the children’s collection at the Library. (which is interesting, but lower taxes are good too). But the kids have their own reasons for supporting Blisters. See if you can match them with the photos: 1) “To run more laps than everyone else” 2) “‘Cause we look goooooood.” 3) For the FOOD! (The shirt says it all) 4) “I love what it does for my hair.” 5) “To practice my talent running backward while drinking juice” 6) “To be with friends!” 7) “ahhh...You talking to us?” Above all else it is a great way to support each other, the library and the community of Lyme. It also allows us the chance to thank the wonderful volunteers who coordinated the event as well as the staff at the Library for all they do for our town. Thank you everyone!!

Loyal readers of the newsletter know the long time feud between the Lyme School and meteorologists for their flagrant inaccuracies of weather prediction. On countless occasions (actually it has been about 5 over the past several years) meteorologists have stirred the community into a froth with lead lines like “Storm of the century”, “the big one” or “start caching food cause you gonna need it” only to watch one lonely flake waft gently past your Is it ever too early to start window come 7am as your kids scream in frenzied bliss due to the cancelation thinking about Christmas? of school. Well fortunately the fourth grade has come to the rescue! You ask Kaleb, grade 2, and Inaccurate predictions are a thing of the past now that they have risen to the apparently the answer is “nope.” challenge. At last week’s morning meeting, we heard about cold fronts and Kaleb presented me with two warm fronts, trends and tropical depressions (who could be depressed in the wonderful pictures of Christmas scenes last week and as we know tropics?). Off camera I asked them what they thought we could expect Christmas is the official sponsor tomorrow-- their answer: “a period of sun followed by several hours of of imagination. Thanks, Kaleb for darkness”. See! Spot on. No embellishment. Was that THAT hard?! You the early Christmas gift. show ‘em fourth grade, ‘Ol Willard Scott’s got nothing on you!
