Greetings
From the President... Greetings... On behalf of SUNY College at Old Westbury, please let me welcome you to this event. Each athletic contest is not only a chance for our Panther teams to compete, but also a showcase for everything our college offers. Please drive or take a walk around campus. As you do, you will notice physical improvements either recently completed or now underway. Speak with our staff or faculty and hear their dedication and the mission of SUNY College at Old Westbury will shine through. And of course, get to know our students. Whether during competition in the spirit of NCAA Division III athletics or during class in one of our more than 50 undergraduate and graduate degree opportunities, our students' successes serve as testimony to our College's ability, as Long Island's only four-year public liberal arts and sciences college, to help the leaders of tomorrow realize their dreams. It is my wish that all who participate in this event do so in a spirit of healthy competition. Moreover, I hope the SUNY College at Old Westbury community gives you a reason to visit us again. Greetings From the Athletic Director... Greetings...
Welcome to SUNY College at Old Westbury Department of Athletics! We are a 13-team athletic program that competes on the NCAA Division III level as a member of the Skyline Conference. We are proud of our 13 athletic teams and inspiring coaches to more than 200 student-athletes who make up the proud athletic community of our college. This year we welcome the sport of Women’s Lacrosse to competition in Spring 2013. The experience of a student-athlete is a unique one and we ensure that our student-athletes receive every possible benefit of this experience. The life of a student-athlete includes working with their coaches and their team to achieve the strongest athletic performance and highest standard of excellence possible in their sport. Along the way, our student-athletes hone their athletic skills and learn leadership skills, learn discipline and learn how to be part of a positive team. Student-athletes are students first, so keeping academics strong is always a priority whether it includes ensuring that student-athletes bring their studies to away games and/or connecting student-athletes with the best academic adviser or the best tutor for them. Our student-athletes graduate with much to show for their time at Old Westbury. They will have excelled academically and athletically and they will have developed many valuable skills in leadership, time management, self-discipline and teamwork that makes them very marketable candidates in their chosen fields. Our community service efforts in which every team serves the community throughout the year will once again continue to exceed all expectations. The social enhancement and development of the student athlete is an important one and will not go unnoticed. Our goal is to win Skyline Conference and national championships in every sport. Our track record for participation in Skyline Conference and ECAC post-season competition is strong and gets stronger every season. We work hard to achieve the best in each sport while ensuring that we exhibit the strongest sportsmanship ethic possible. Our athletic administrators and coaches are here to help you in any way possible. Please don’t hesitate to approach or make an appointment with any of us for advice or assistance. I am confident the upcoming year will be an exciting and productive one for all. GO PANTHERS! Sincerely, Lenore Walsh Director of Athletics SUNY College at Old Westbury

Season Outlook
THE PANTHERS ENTER YEAR TWO OF A NEW ERA UNDER HEAD COACH JAMIE SAN FILIPPO Last year, Jamie San Filippo stepped into a SUNY College at Old Westbury men's soccer program and guided the Panthers to their fifth consecutive trip to the Skyline Conference Championship Tournament, going 6-12-1 overall and 53-1 in conference play. Optimism is high and the squad is aiming to return to the postseason. The Panthers have talented players and under San Filippo's tutelage are looking for immediate success. Old Westbury was voted by the league coaches to finish sixth in the 2012 Skyline Conference Preseason Poll. The Panthers return seven players, which each logged at least eight starts in 2011. The group includes All-Skyline Conference selections junior Michael Bayne and sophomore Tana Weekes along with seniors Steven Burgos and Pablo Diaz, and juniors Bryan Bolivar, Scott Carey and DJ Stock. Bayne was one of three Old Westbury players named AllSkyline in 2011, along with Weekes, who also claimed Rookie of the Year honors, and German Parodis, who has since graduated. The Panthers welcome 13 freshman, two sophomores and two juniors to a team that lost 12 players from the 2011 squad. The incoming freshmen include Alec Adeclat, Robert Dezendorf, Ryan Finnin, Kevin Fitzgerald, Dan Giorgi, Jon Kerby, Craig Mannhart, Matthew McCarthy, Andrew Moorman, Michael Mosher, Efe Oztas, Brian Schanel and Peter Sicardi. Also among the newcomers are juniors Donny Alerte and Marcelo Guardado and sophomores Kosisochukwu Ikwuazom and Shakti Ramcharen. Alerte returns to the Panther lineup after sitting out the 2011 season and enters this season with five career goals and one assist in 18 games. Despite having 17 new faces on the team, San Filippo expects the newcomers to jell and contribute in their first season with the Panthers. Goalkeeper is perhaps the deepest position on the Old Westbury roster with senior Pablo Diaz returning with starting experience along with junior transfer Marcelo Guardado and freshmen Peter Sicardi and Efe Oztas. San Filippo has molded a tough defensive team and feels that the Old Westbury back will provide a great foundation for a stingy defense. In 2011, Old Westbury's defense led the Skyline with five conference shutouts. Michael Bayne anchors the backline as a junior and team captain. He brings physical presence and great leadership and organization. Tana Weekes led Old Westbury's offensive attack last year with five goals and 12 points. Scott Carey (3 goals), Steven Burgos (2 goals) and Weekes' provided Old Westbury with 62.5 percent of last year's scoring. In total, Old Westbury returns 75 percent of the goals scored in 2011. All in all, Old Westbury men's soccer looks primed and hungry to succeed in year two of the San Filippo era. The Panthers begin their quest for the championship with a two-game trip to the Oswego State Tournament (Aug. 31Sept. 1). They will face Oswego State on Friday before completing the weekend in the championship / consolation match against Alfred or Medaille on Saturday. Old Westbury's Skyline Conference schedule begins September 22 on the road with Mount Saint Mary before the home Skyline opener one week later against Sage. Old Westbury concludes regularseason play with a conference match at Yeshiva on October 25. The quarterfinals of the six-team Skyline Conference Championship Tournament will be held on October 27, with the semifinal round to be played October 31 culminating with the title match on November 3. In total, Old Westbury plays nine of their 19 matches at home.
