Our theme for this half term is ’Battle of the Dinosaurs’ . It has a ’knowledge and understanding of the world’ focus. We will be learning the names of some dinosaurs and will be discussing the terms ‘plant-eater’, ‘meat-eater’ and ‘extinct’. We would like to set up a dinosaur topic table so please feel free to send in interesting items for display. Please ensure that these are clearly labelled with your child’s name. We will be having a ‘Dino Dig’ in our role-play area and will be creating volcanoes.

Reading LIBRARY BOOKS Your child will continue to have the opportunity to borrow a book from the school library for you to share together. Library books will be changed every Monday (am group) Tuesday (pm group). Please would you bring the library book in your child’s book bag. Please note, we will not be able to change books on other days. READ, WRITE, INC..
This half term we will be continuing to learn letter sounds and letter formation. We will focus on one sound a week and will have a sound wall displaying items beginning with that sound. We are revising sounds learned to date this week and will start with ‘c’ next week. Please could you help your child to bring in a small labelled item beginning with this letter. We will send home a sheet each Friday for your child to practise and keep at home. Thank you for your support. The pupils are doing very well. A reminder that ‘Sound Cards’ are available to buy (£6.50) and are an excellent way to practise letter recognition and word
building at home.
P.E Please remember that your child needs to come to school in jogging pants and appropriate footwear on a Tuesday and Wednesday.

FRUIT AND MILK The children will continue to have fruit and milk/water. Fruit money for this half term is £3.00 Please would you send fruit money in a named envelope. Thank you to those who have already paid fruit money. ABSENCES If your child is absent for any reason please would you contact school as soon as possible. When your child returns please send a letter confirming the reason for absence. COATS! Please could you continue to send your child with a coat every day as we use the outdoor area as often as possible. The children are very good at putting their coats on independently using the hood on first method. Well done Children! Now as the weather is warmer sun lotion should be applied as necessary at home. Children should also bring in a sun hat clearly labelled with their name.
