Prince Albert Raiders Game Notes RAIDER REVIEW: The Raiders offensive quandary continued on Sunday night, falling 7-0 to the Swift Current Broncos, despite outshooting the Broncos 35-26. Swift Current scored twice in the opening frame, four times in the middle stanza and once more in the third period en route to the victory. VS THE REBELS: The Raiders are 1-1-1-0 against Red Deer this season, including a 4-1 victory on October 2nd at the Art Hauser Centre. Draft eligible forwards Reid Gardiner and Leon Draisaitl lead the offence, each with 2 goals and 2 assists in the season series, while 18-year-old defenceman Josh Morrissey and 19-year-old centre Jayden Hart both have one goal and 3 assists. 20-year -old goaltender Cole Cheveldave has started all three meetings, recording a 3.33 goals against average and .889 save percentage. A NEW LEADER: 17-year-old forward Reid Gardiner has taken over the team lead in goals, with 20 in 44 games played this season, one ahead of 18-year-old centre Leon Draisaitl, who has 19 in just 38 games played. SILENCED GUNS: In their first two games this weekend, the Raiders have only managed three goals on 117 shots, a shooting percentage of 2.6%. This season, the Raiders have been firing at 9.7%, with 151 goals on 1556 shots. RAIDERS RANKED: 18-year-old centre Leon Draisaitl has been ranked 2nd among North American skaters by NHL Central Scouting Service’s recent Midterm rankings for the 2014 NHL Draft, making him the highest ranked player in the WHL. 17-year-old forward Reid Gardiner holds down the 40th spot on the list, the 11th highest player in the WHL. KEEPING IT CLEAN: The Raiders are the second least penalized team in the WHL and have the lowest amount of penalty minutes in the Eastern Conference, with just 536 through 45 games this season. NEW YEARS BLUES: The month of January has been tough on the Raiders historically, as the team has a 59-62-10 record in the first month of the New Years in the past 10 seasons. DONE AT A DOZEN: 18-year-old centre Leon Draisaitl’s 12-game point streak and assist streak came to an end Sunday night, totalling 9 goals and 16 assists for 25 points. It was the longest active consecutive point run in the WHL, as well as the longest assist streak in the league this season. MILESTONES: 19-year-old defenceman Sawyer Lange is 2 games from 175, while 19-year-old forward Chance Braid reached that mark on Sunday. 18-year-old defenceman Josh Morrissey one goal shy of his previous season high of 15 and 19-year-old winger Dakota Conroy is one goal from 50 in his career. 17-year-old forward Reid Gardiner will reach the 100 game plateau in 2 games.

The Green and Gold will host the Prince George Cougars for the first time in two years on Monday the 27 th before departing for Lethbridge and Kootenay.
