Saturday, October 21st, 2017 @ 7:00PM Art Hauser Centre, Prince Albert, SK Saskatoon Blades (3-6-0-0 – 6pts) 6th – East Division 12th – Eastern Conference PP – 5/35 = 14.3% (19th in WHL) PK – 26/40 = 64.9% (22nd in WHL)

Prince Albert Raiders (3-4-3-0 – 9pts) 5th – East Division 9th – Eastern Conference PP – 7/37 = 18.9% (15th in WHL) PK – 26/35 = 74.3% (17th in WHL)

Tonight… The Saskatoon Blades open up an 8 game season series with their arch rival Prince Albert Raiders. Last season the Blades won 5 of 8 games in the season series, and Saskatoon took 2/3 pre-season games in September. Both squads missed the playoffs last season meaning the rivalry will begin a new chapter as the Blades and Raiders work to get back into the contender conversation. The last game… Both teams had a rare Friday off last night and both are coming off games against the Vancouver Giants. The Blades fell 6-3 to the G-men on Wednesday night at SaskTel Centre and the Raiders earned a single point in a OT loss to Vancouver on Tuesday. Rookies reppin’… Hockey Canada announced on Tuesday the 66 players to represent the country on three teams at the upcoming World U17 Challenge in November. Blades’ forward Kirby Dach and goaltending prospect Nolan Maier both will be competing in the tournament. Tandem Twenties… Last season’s leading scorer Braylon Shmyr leads the team with 14 points in 9 games and line mate Cam Hebig is right behind with 13 points in 7 outings. 19-year-old winger Brad Goethals has spent the last 4 games on a line with Shmyr & Hebig and has benefitted posting 5 points in that span, totaling 8 points on the season… good enough for 3rd on the team. Streak of lightning… Veteran defender Libor Hájek- a 2016 2nd round pick of Tampa Bay- is off to a hot start this season with 6 points through 9 games. Hájek is currently riding a 4 game point streak (3G,1A). Draft Watch… 2000 born forwards Chase Wouters, Michael Farren, Matt Mosher, Brandon Machado, and late ’99 birthday Arjun Atwal, along with 2000 born defenseman Seth Bafaro are all entering their first year of NHL draft eligibility. This day in Blades history: October 21, 2005…Anton Khudobin out-duelled Devan Dubnyk in a battle of present-day N.H.L. goaltenders as the Blades blanked the Blazers 3-0 in Kamloops. Another future N.H.L.er, Devin Setoguchi, was in on all three Saskatoon scoring plays…tallying once and assisting on the other two. He was named the game’s 1st star. Wacey Rabbit and Aaron Bader notched the other goals for the Bridge City Bunch as they out-shot Kamloops 36-25. Injury report… F Logan Christensen – upper body, 5-7 weeks F Michael Farren – lower body, day-to-day F Tyler Lees – upper body, day-to-day
