QUILTS & KREATIONS 2015 WINTER 2015 Dear Friends, Welcome to 2015! We have been busy planning a wide array of classes and events for you for the upcoming year. We hope that you take a moment to read our newsletter. We are sure there will be something to interest you, and look forward to continuing to serve you in the new year. The NFL will be holding its annual Super Bowl game on Sunday February 1. Quilts & Kreations will be celebrating that event by holding our annual Super “Bolt” Sale on Saturday, January 31 and Sunday February 1. We once again will be sponsoring a food drive to benefit the local food bank in conjunction with our Super “Bolt” Sale. Our discount for the event will be 20%, BUT, if you bring in a minimum of 4 nonperishable food items valued at a minimum of $3, or a cash donation, minimum of $3, you will receive an extra 10% off your total bill. We cannot accept expired food, so please check the expiration dates. All cash donations will be used to buy high protein items such as peanut butter, tuna fish etc. We thank you in advance for your generous support. This sale offer will be good for both Saturday and Sunday. The Christmas motif fabrics that are in the classroom (marked with a blue star) will be 40% off. Red Dot fabric is 40% off. Wow, that means some great savings for you! Fabric kits and block of the month fabrics are excluded. The smallest fabric cut will be 1/4 yard. It is the time of year again when we replace our BERNINA floor model and classroom sewing machines. We have some great prices on these machines, and they all come with full warranties. We only have one machine per style, so do not hesitate, they will sell quickly. If you are not interested in a floor model we have great prices on all of the machines. You MUST pre register for the session that you will be attending, and also for which color way that you will be doing for the Saturday Block Of The Month. Samples of our 3 color ways are available for your viewing. We use nothing but the latest fabric lines and best quality fabric on the market for this program. We suggest that you have some previous quilting experience to participate in this program. If you are signed up for our Paducah, Ky. bus trip, your final payment is due by February 9. Fashion stops at the knees while you are in Paducah, so make sure that you pack comfortable walking shoes, as we will do a lot of walking. I hope you are as excited as I am about our upcoming trip, it will be here before we know it. Please Note: Due to a some cancelations we have a few seats open for the Paducah, Ky. Quilt Show Bus Trip on April 20 to April 23. If you are interested in going, do not hesitate, call the shop today for more information. Our annual Shipshewana, Indiana bus trip will be on Wednesday May 20. Shipshewana is an Amish community filled with many interesting craft, antique, and quilt shops. We will be going on Wednesday when the huge flea market will be open. If you love to shop and you love crafts and such, then this is the perfect trip for you. Mark your calendar, and ask your boss for the day off. The price of the trip will be $74.00 and will include round trip bus transportation, snacks, dinner, tax and dinner gratuities. Call the shop today and reserve your seat. A $25 non refundable deposit is due within one week after making your reservation. No refunds will be made within 7 days of the trip. Refunds will be made only if we can fill your seat. For your shopping convenience we are open on Sundays from 12:00 pm until 4:00 pm. All of the quilting magazines today are showing quilts made using hexis. We have had much success teaching Rag Quilt classes, so we combined both methods. You will want to join Char in making this Hexi Rag Quilt to keep you warm all winter long. Her quilt is done in blues, but any fabric combination will do. Block of the Month Quilt Sit & Sew $20.00 1 class BYOM If you still have not put your Quilts & Kreations past years’ block of the month quilts together, or you want to get a jump start on 2013’s then you will want to join Susan for this all day class. If you are using one of the layouts from our setting class she will help you with the construction of your quilt. Join Susan for a fun day and get your quilt top completed too. Bring a sack lunch. Thursday April 23 10:00am-5:00pm Basics of Machine Quilting $20.00 1 class (B) BYOM If you do not have time to hand quilt all of the projects that you make, then you just might want to sign up for this class. This class will take you in the right direction. We will discuss the proper supplies to use and will also practice some free motion quilting. This is a great class for a beginning machine quilter. The Gatsby Quilt $18.00 2 classes (B) BYOM Pattern included Are you ready to step out of your box and do a contemporary quilt? If so, then you will want to sign up for this class. Various size blocks make up the background and 12 circles of various sizes are appliquéd on top of the background. The quilt goes together quickly. We will show you a trick on how to sew the circles on with your sewing machine to make them look like they were hand appliquéd. Tuesday April 28 May 5 6:30pm-9:30pm Sewing Camp For Kids $50.00 5 classes (B) BYOM Save the Date. Susan is once again offering a five day sewing camp this summer for children 8 years old and older. The children will be making a lap sized quilt. This is always a fun week for the boys and girls who come to her camp. SATURDAY BLOCK OF THE MONTH Make a quilt top for just $25.00 Make a quilt top for just $25.00 by joining our Saturday Block Of The Month. The program will run for 12 months. Here is how it works: On the 2nd Saturday of each month (we will also offer 2 classes on Fridays) we will introduce that month’s block and give a short demonstration of a technique or tool that can be used to make the block. At the 1st class you attend, you buy a kit for $25.00. It has the pattern and the fabric for the block in whichever color way you choose. We will be offering 3 different color ways to choose from. Go home and make the block. Bring it to the following month’s class and you get your next kit free! For example April will be the 1st month. You bring April’s finished block to the class in May and get May’s kit free. Bring May’s finished block in June and get June’s block kit free. If you want to make blocks in all 3 colors, you may, but only 1 kit a month will be free, you must pay for the others. To get your free kit you have to come on the second Saturday (or Friday) of the month and stay through a session. THERE WILL BE NO EXCEPTIONS. If you can’t come one Saturday, you can buy that month’s kit for $5.00 while supplies last. Sessions are at 10:00 am or 11:30am on Fridays, 10:00am, 11:30 am. on Saturdays starting April 10 and 11, 2015. Fabric samples should be in by end of February. We suggest that you have some previous quilting experience to participate in this program. You must pre register for this program.

The Gatsby Quilt $18.00 2 classes (B) BYOM Pattern included Are you ready to step out of your box and do a contemporary quilt? If so, then you will want to sign up for this class. Various size blocks make up the background and 12 circles of various sizes are appliquéd on top of the background. The quilt goes together quickly. We will show you a trick on how to sew the circles on with your sewing machine to make them look like they were hand appliquéd. The children will be making a lap sized quilt. This is always a fun week for the boys and girls who come to her camp. SATURDAY BLOCK OF THE MONTH Make a quilt top for just $25.00 Make a quilt top for just $25.00 by joining our Saturday Block Of The Month. The program will run for 12 months. Here is how it works: On the 2nd Saturday of each month (we will also offer 2 classes on Fridays) we will introduce that month’s block and give a short demonstration of a technique or tool that can be used to make the block. At the 1st class you attend, you buy a kit for $25.00. It has the pattern and the fabric for the block in whichever color way you choose. We will be offering 3 different color ways to choose from. Go home and make the block. Bring it to the following month’s class and you get your next kit free! For example April will be the 1st month. You bring April’s finished block to the class in May and get May’s kit free. Bring May’s finished block in June and get June’s block kit free. If you want to make blocks in all 3 colors, you may, but only 1 kit a month will be free, you must pay for the others. To get your free kit you have to come on the second Saturday (or Friday) of the month and stay through a session. THERE WILL BE NO EXCEPTIONS. If you can’t come one Saturday, you can buy that month’s kit for $5.00 while supplies last. Sessions are at 10:00 am or 11:30am on Fridays, 10:00am, 11:30 am. on Saturdays starting April 10 and 11, 2015. Fabric samples should be in by end of February. We suggest that you have some previous quilting experience to participate in this program. You must pre register for this program.
