Ofsted Monitoring Inspection Report

Roe Lee Park Newsletter September 2016

As you may remember on 12th July we received an Ofsted Monitoring Inspection and we are delighted with the outcome which highlights the rapid progress the school is making and the success of the actions we have taken to ensure that we are ‘Good’ at our next full inspection. We have attached a copy of the report for your information. Please take time to read it carefully. Our very pleasing results for 2016 (see summary below) show continued improvement and compare well against provisional national figures. We are delighted with the outcomes our pupils have achieved and we feel that we are strongly placed to build further on our successes.

OPEN DAY On Wednesday 5th October we will be having an open day for any parents considering sending their children to our school or nursery or just interested to look around our fantastic school. This will be an informal event and a chance to view the school, talk to teachers and Governors and see the school in ‘action’ between: 9am – 11am and 2pm – 4pm. Please spread the word to people that you think might be interested.

School priorities for 2016-2017 This school year we are focussing on continuing to improve the quality of teaching across the whole school, including the Foundation Stage. To support this we are engaging with 2 very high quality programmes to further improve English and Maths involving significant training for teachers and support staff. Writing is still a key priority and we are now seeing the impact of our work in this area as it continues to improve. We are refining the role of the Subject Leaders in school so that they impact directly on outcomes for the children.

‘Meet the Teacher’ sessions Next week parents of pupils in Year 1 to 6 will be invited the come and meet the teacher and find out about what your child will be doing this school year. Please try to attend these meetings as valuable information about things like homework will be given out and it’s a chance to meet your child’s new teacher and ask any questions. Dates for each class are listed in ‘Diary Dates’ on the reverse side of this newsletter.

School Clubs

Dinner money / milk money

In the next couple of weeks our school clubs will begin. The children will be informed in due course of which clubs are available to them and how they can obtain a place. Parents will need to sign the appropriate forms to give consent for their children to attend these clubs. Please carefully check the finishing times so that you can collect your child promptly at the end of each session.

Just a reminder that school dinners are now £1.90 per day / £9.50 per week and this should be paid on Mondays in a sealed, named envelope. Please hand the money to your child’s teacher rather than the school office. Milk is now £4 per term and this should be paid in a sealed, named envelope as soon as possible and no later than Friday 16th September.

Safe and Courteous Parking Please be mindful of our neighbours when parking up at the beginning and end of the school day. Residents need access to and from their driveways so please don’t block them. The yellow ‘Zig Zag’ lines at the front of school must be kept clear at all times to ensure the safety of the pupils so please don’t park or drop off here. Mrs Morris is always on hand to help the children cross the road from the other side. Your co-operation with this would be greatly appreciated

Year 6 visit to Robinwood On Wednesday 16th September our Year 6 pupils will set off on the annual Outdoor and Adventure residential visit to ‘Robinwood’ in Todmorden. We hope that they have a brilliant time and that you enjoy the peace and quiet! Many thanks to Mrs Robinson for organising the visit and to Mr Greaves, Mrs Whittaker and Mr Allen who have volunteered to accompany the group.

Nursery / Reception places Due to some pupils being unable to take up their places at our school we unexpectedly have some vacancies in both the Nursery and Reception classes. If you would like to take up one of these places, or know somebody else that would, please contact the school office on 56297 as soon as possible as we expect to fill them quickly.

Welfare Assistant Required We currently need a Welfare Assistant to join our lunch time team. This role involves supervising the children at lunch times and helping to ensure that they stay happy and safe during this part of the day. The hours are from 12.25pm to 1.40pm each day. If you are interested in this job please contact the school office before Friday 24th September. If you know of anyone that would be interested please ask them to get in touch.
